Hi- I thought this blog would be a perfect way to keep in touch with everyone. We flew into Istanbul on Tuesday, September 15th at around 11:30 pm. Just a few hours after our plane landed Ians grandmother passed away and he was not able to get to the hospital in time to see her. Her last words were to ask if Ian and his wife had arrived and then she sighed and passed away. Noone slept that night except for me for a couple hours as i did not go to the hospital. This is just an extension of the pictures and videos I took in the villages we visited. The first video is of the funeral. At the end, the lady holding the green cloth is arguing with the Imam. The Imam insisted that the village lady not put the green cloth over the body because it would not distintegrate, while the lady insisted that the green cloth is a part of the za za culture and Ians grandma must be buried with it.
