After I spent one year in the States WITHOUT keeoing a journal, I decided that everything should change for my additional 9 months. I came here in COtober 2005 as an Au Pair from Germany. It has always been my dream to spend a loooong time in the USA. And because High School scholarships didn't work I had to think of something else. Being an Au Pair mean WORK but also FUNFUNFUN. I get $140 a week (which is not much) but with some savings I was able to do some awesome trips to New York City (not far away from my home in Connecticut), the Niagara Falls, Mt. Washington, Dudlye Town, Yale, Priceton, Boston and Harvard.Geny
Now I start my second year here...moving to California : San Diego and later this winter Los Angeles. I cannot wait to be there and put my feet in the Pcaific Ocean, to see the Hollywood sign and to meet new people...to be honest CT is a little bit boring.
This site will show some things of my last year, but especially NEW things from ny 2cnd year..HAVE FUN AND ENJOY!!!

wow..what a week....( i mean last week and this week:P) it all started on....wednesday,...my hostmom told me that she would be leaving for Denver until Saturday...yeah thing was: hostdad was there already, which meant me ALONE with these three kids i barely knew for 2 days. She took off on Thurday afternoon..leaving me with 3 crying, complaining and unhappy kids!!! But who am I to take something like this from kids??? NEVER I thought....o.k. games, songs, food, candy..EVERYTHING..and it worked *hehe* of course it worked what did you think? After I brought them to bed I started thinking about how to CHARGE my family for this ILLEGAL action ( leaving me alone with the kids for like 33 hours)...after talking to some people I decided to go with * charging them for the time I WAS ... read more

hey guys.. my first week here is over.. I am exhausted I already worked 47 hours the first week ( of course I got my $20 extra). It is Tuesday 12.30 and I just put Jamie ( 2.5 years) to bed! Late on I have to pick up Georgie and bring the kids to some doctor! I guess I will be done by 7 or 8 tonight.... But let me begin from the beginning! o.k. now the time is here.. no not christmas time.. the TIME TO SAY GOODBYE to my beloved hostfamily and the wonderful fall-colored Connecticut! On Saturday I have my flight to California.. I suppose I will be offline for at least a week - until I am all settled in and comfortable with my new surroundings. Yeah I had an awesome last week and an even better weekend! big disappointment... my recently NEW hostmom kicked me out, before I moved in. No reason, no call no mail..no NOTHING...yep....people who suck everywhere!!!! Thanks to my wonderful regional manager I have a new hostfamily now. A family of 5 ( 2 girls one boy)..busy schedule BUT: a wonderful family...great people....AND I will have my own car, that I can use! I am FOR THE FIRST time absolutely happy with my agency - grateful to my RM Kristin....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Hey, I am back from a great trip. This Saturday Julia and I wanted to go to Boston, because she hasn't been there yet. Unfortunately the weather forecast said that Boston will be very rainy on sat. morning. So we decided to go on Sunday *no problem* But there was a surprise waiting for us.... a really goooood one! Julia called me 11am on Saturday, telling me that her host dad gave her $100 - as a reward for her working so much this week and as a "go-away" present for me ( I am going to CA in 3 weeks). I was "shocked" because I really didn't think that something like this would happen. I packed my bag within 10 minutes, got ready in another 10, got my money and picked up Julia! YES!!! 2 days ago something happened, what should have happened a while ago. NO not that George W. Bush commited suicide..I got a phone call from my AP company, telling me, that the family I haven been e mailing with for about a week would like to welcome me as their new Au Pair. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY The really really great news is that they live in San Diego right now, but they are moving to Malibu Beach (David Hasselhoff kingdom *hahaha*) which is located about 15 minutes from LA! I cannot wait to go there.....3 more weeks. The family is very nice and there is not that much work to do for me! It already started yesterday night. Shows, Documentations, short movies about this dark day in the history of the United States. This morning began like every other one: drinking coffee, playing with the kids and laughing about stupid jokes with my host mom. At 8.30 I switched on the TV to see what happend in the world and there I realized - it was 9/11! The tv didn't get turned off for the next 4 hours and the same sadness and speechlessness overcame me, just like in the last 5 years! In the evening I went to a street mass at the local firestation here in Ridgefield. It was really beautiful, and although I don't believe in God I enjoyed to comforting and wise words about HOPE, LOVE and PEACE!!! We sang Amazing Grace and The Star ... read more

Hey guys. So now I think I finally found the possibility to tell all of you ( without writing mails and mails) what's been going on in the last year, and what will happen in the next 10 months. I *hopefully* found a new Hostfamily in San Diego - California. A single Mom and a 9 year old daughter. They seem to be really nice and I cannot wait to get the final call from her, that's I will be living with them for the next year. The best thing is, that they move in December. They will move to Mailbu Beach (yes, THIS malibu Beach where David Hasselhoff saved soooo many lives ETC). It is located about 15 minutes from LA and just beautiful.
