Day 81 - 91 Vang Vieng So, it was always in our plan to got to Vang Vieng for just 2 or 3 days and move on. But things didn't work out as planned. The scenery alone in VV is a reason enough to stay for 11 days. But it was really the people that we met that had us pushing back our flight to China every few days. We have to give a shout out to all the awesome peeps we met: Camille - our friendly Plain of Jars Canadian that introduced us to Q Bar. Sandy - our fun loving Cali girl that was alos our movie buddy Lauren - a fellow American amateur rock climber Rob - Our little brother we never wanted but love anyway. Day 79/80/81 - Phonsavan The three of once again dragged ourselves out of bed at a ridiculous hour to catch the bus south to Phonsavan - "Plain of Jars". The bus was quite empty so we each got to spread out and have our own row which was a first for us. It ended up being a complete blessing since it was by far the worst bus journey we've had in the last three months. Even worse then Myanmar. It wasn't the roads that was issue - they were even paved. It was the winding up and down, across and around the mountains at top speed. The constant swerving gave us all severe motion sickness and half way through the ride, they handed out black plastic bags that we assume we in case any of us ... read more

Day 74/75/76/77/78/79 - Luang Prabang Before we even start to tell you about our time in Laos, we should mention our one night in Bangkok before heading to Laos. But we'll give you the below words and then just let your imagination go from there.... Hung out with crew from Myanmar (Ben, Bex, Mark), beer, buckets of alcohol, Andrea from Cambodia, Tuk Tuk, Patpong Road, Ping Pong Show, Darts/Balloon, Lady Boys, Overcharge by 250 Baht, Locked Door, Madame, Pushing, Screaming, Beer bottles about to be thrown, freedom, McDonald's, early morning, bedbugs........ Some hopefully the above will give you some sort of clue as to how we spent less them 24 hours in Bangkok. It was much different then our first go in Bangkok via 5 Star Hotels. However, despite our late night and early morning, we ... read more

Myanmar Part II Day 66- 74 Day 6 of Road Trip We arranged a boat trip for the day around Inle Lake. The river along Naungshwe eventually opened up into the huge expansive shallow Inle lake. Zaw Zaw had bought some treats along that we got to throw up to the seagulls that flew right up to us, hovering about 3 feet above us waiting for us to throw the treats. Another interesting thing about the lake was that the fisherman use their lower calf and heel to paddle the boats (see photo). Our first stop was a local market that sold everything for locals and tourist. S did a bit of souvenirs shopping but G started to fill a bit ill. After about an hour of wondering through the market we got back into the ... read more

Day 61- 65 Myanmar (Burma) We have so much to report back from being in Myanmar for the past 13 days. Unfortunately, we had basically zero access to the internet while in Myanmar. The one time we actually found a cafe that had working internet, we could only afford to 15 minutes and the government blocked access to most sites like AOL, Yahoo and Hotmail. But now that we are in Laos and have recovered from the hectic schedule we've had for the past 15 days we can finally write about our time in Myanmar. First off, it wasn't an easy decision to go to Myanmar. We originally planed on going when we first thought about traveling. But after the monk riots and the devastating cyclone, we marked it off our list. However, we have met ... read more

Day 59/60 - Bangkok We don't have much to report on our 2 days in Bangkok other then we spent them getting the VIP treatment in Bangkok. We did do a little shopping on Kao San Road but nothing to write home about. But we do owe a great big "THANKS" to our moms for putting us up in the 5 star Sofitel Hotel in Bangkok off Silom Road. We truly took advantage of the place - tried out the steam room, the sauna, jacuzzi and pool. S even took a bubble bath in the spacious tub. We only ventured out of the hotel to run errands as Steph has done the sightseeing stuff during her first visit to Bangkok 2 years ago and G was not too bother to see anymore Wats or Royal Palaces. ... read more

Day 54/55/56/57/58 Phnom Penh & Koh Kong & Bangkok Our first night in Phnom Penh was short since we arrived in the late afternoon. But we did get a tuk tuk up to the lake and ate at the Lazy Gecko where they serve the most amazing chicken strips and fries (and have the cutest pug). S tried to add some more stuff onto her ipod but was sadly disappointed that the Boom Boom room in Phnom Penh couldn't upload MAC ipods. The cafe did have a TV room and we watch "Baby Mama" on their "Sinsung" DVD player (only the crap DVD apparently will play the pirated videos. The next day, Rob met up with this Scottish friend that he met on his tour of Malaysia. The two of them went off to sighesee around ... read more

Day 52/53/54 - Battambang We've just been having the best time torturing Rob with all kinds of pranks. Unfortunately, since we are hoping other friends will be joining us we can't reveal any of them now. But the two us have spent the last 3 days laughing it up at poor Rob's expense (but don't worry, he absolutely loves it). He also has provided us with such comic relief such as telling us he doesn't want to "be a sheep that cried wolf" (yeah, that is a direct quote). Our childhood dreams of having a little brother to pick on has truly been answered. The first day in Battambang was pretty chill since we had such an early wake up call that morning and it was another scorching day in Cambodia. However, the next day (Sunday ... read more

Day 48/49/50/51/52 - Siem Reap Yeah it wasn't the most memorable day of our trip, making the 10 hour ride to Siem Reap from Kratie. However, we managed it with just a little bit of complaining (most of the whining came from S). In Siem Reap, we chose to stay at Garden Village as it was recommended to us by Andrea in Sihanoukville. They had "dorm style" rooms for $1 a night, but it was literally a huge bamboo hut with a 3 inch mattress and mosquito nets for walls - no security for our stuff and no hot water in the common bathrooms. So we opted out of that and took the private room with a ceiling fan and an en suite bathroom with hot water for $6 a night. I know all the hardcore ... read more

Day 45/46/47/48 - Ban Lung (& Kratie) To quote Lonely Planet in regards to Ban Lung is the best way we can describe the place....... "It may look like autumn all year around, but its just that the leaves, like everything else are cloaked in a blanket of dust". But not even the book or people we had talked to prepared us for the amount of dust. The nickname for Ban Lung is "the Red City", which is quite appropriate. Luckily due to the extra cash from S's mom, we chose to stay a bit out of town at "Nordon House". It is run by a Swedish guy and his Cambodian wife. Our bungalow was super clean, hot water was provided via solar panels, there were electric fans and the electricity ran from 6PM to 4AM. ... read more
