thanks for your update! Dear Dave,
Once again, thanks for your update and for your description of the "onsen". That word was new to me. Hope all continues well.
Johnny
Hey David,
I really enjoyed your Japan Post. I have always wanted to go there. My blog is looking for some good travel photos to post. If you have any to share email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com or check us out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com.
Continued fun on your travels,
Eric
A Decision Well Made David I think you have made a difficult, but informed decision. Somehow I think there are bigger one's to come with your talent, interests and love for life. All the best with making those!
In the two years since you've left for Japan, you've gained a nephew and you've lost a grandmother. These are the kind of significant life markers that make us all realize the passage of time. We've missed you too Dave and we're so glad to know that you are coming home.
Job well done I enjoyed your mature analysis of your experiences and your decision to come home. Good for you and all our love. Great picture of you and Luke!! Uncle Jimmy
hooray for couchsurfing! Dude, I just had my first couchsurfing experience a few weeks ago. My friends and I went up to Montreal for the Osheaga Music Festival and we stayed with this couple in their mid-20's. They had 2 other roommates and 4 cats... it was great! Really awesome people and I got to learn a lot about canadian culture (well montreal and quebec province culture to be more specific). Long story short, I cant wait to couchsurf again.... maybe in japan?
couchsurfing Dear David,
As one who has had many people sleep on my couch over the years (American, Nepali, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Czech, etc.) I sort of know what you are talking about. Because I have known most (but not all) of these sleepers in advance, I almost qualify as a couchsurfing host! Glad you met Luke in Korea. Our Luke here in Connecticut is doing fine at 2 weeks old! Much love,
Uncle Johnny
Dear (C?)Hristina, Thanks for reading my blog. Tokyo is truly a one-of-a-kind city. One of the reasons enjoyed it so much was because I've been able to experience the other side of Japan (namely, the countryside), as well. So while Tokyo is great, it doesn't represent the whole country. If you indeed come to Japan, and you have time, I urge you to get out of Tokyo and explore everything that Japan offers!
Dear GaijinGuy,
I should honestly say that I was impressed by your story about Tokyo, it was really exciting to read and learn so much about this cosmopolitan city! I am interested in visiting Tokyo in the future and now, after reading about your experience, I feel determined to make a trip to Tokyo in the future. I agree that it's strange how people there think of what is cute and sexy, I have heard of this notion before and I also don't find this nice. What surprised me was the idea of being impeccably dressed, even to an extreme. This was a new thing to learn. Also, I am impressed by the pictures you have published, Tokyo seems to be an amazing city! I am sure you have had a great time there!
GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Dave: Great to hear from you again. I was so sorry to hear about your camera in Thailand. That was a bummer! How cold has it been there and how cold were the slopes?
The Thrill is Gone Dude, you rocked Higher ground!! Everything was all good until they showed your ugly mug on camera on that last song though... talk about tha thrill is gone, haha! Happy Christmas
you have a future, Dave! Dear Dave, with all of these needs in the US, you should have no trouble making an entrepreneurial success of at least one when you return!
Hilarious Dave- Keep up the wonderful blogging. I love reading this thing. I can totally understand your perspective on the whole culture, and imagining you doing many of the things/behaviours you've now become accustomed to is really fun. And funny.
Much love!
