Very interesting blog... but price differences are the origin of all trade. Merchants from Europe would sail to Asia, taking items that were cheap in Europe to exchange for items that were cheap in Asia but expensive in Europe. Imbalances do not last forever.
An excellent explanation Thank you for taking the time to explain the issues between Venezuela and Columbia. I found the terminology donkey work interesting. Economic issues drive behavior and sometimes the behavior makes the economics worse. Life is a circle.
An excellent explanation I appreciate your comment, yes, and sometimes it is the other way round: everytime there is a disagreement -mostly political- between the countries-, they close the border and prices of fuel soar and people from both countries suffer the consequences. Let's be optimistic, this might change one day!
I can hardly wait... Cartagena sounds so lovely, I can hardly wait to go there. I've always heard it was wonderful, and your blog brought it to life! How great also that your university has a vacation place for its teachers--something I've found in other parts of South America, but not in the US. Lucky Colombians!
I can hardly wait Hehe, yes, You need to come here and it is just the way they´ve told you, beautiful and full of history. A lovely idea, right? It´s like having a hotel out there and the udes organises excursions for teachers there every semester, lovely!
Committed Colombia! How great that your country is committed to helping its EFL teachers and has such a good model for passing on the learning. After all, we learn best when we teach. I was an ESL teacher for 20 years in California, and I know how important it is to continue improving and sharing techniques. Good luck!
Committed Colombia Yes, it is a good start for there are things to do but with an organised project like Cascade, I am sure we´ll start having results soon. I am lucky to be part of the project. Thanks for your comment.
Yes, indeed Yeah, Dave and Merry, I sort of wished life would stop at that very minute, so peaceful it was. I love the quotes you have about travelling, they make you think. Nice trips, excelent.
Awesome!!! Dear Frank,
I could not be more delighted than what I am right now, looking at all this commitment and hard work of yours.
This really shows how much you care for the future of your future citizens.
Keep up with the good work,
Claudia H:)
Awesome Job, love your blogs! I was reading up on Manizales and came across your blog, I think it's fabulous..... I'm getting ready to leave for Colombia tomorrow, so excited;) Keep up the good work, proud to be daughter of Colombian parents...
Awesome job, love your blogs! Hey, thanks!!! I am so glad that you like it, our country is full of so much contrast that it is easy to write about it. Keep me posted about your travel.

Hi all!
Well, after so many seconds, minutes, hours, months and years of procrastination...-but highly encouraged by a most beloved friend-, I have finally got round to creating my own blog. Wow, I can't believe I'm actually doing it this time! It will be a nice opportunity to get in touch with so many friends that I've luckily gained in my entire '21' years' existence (we all know that's a lie but somehow it makes me feel younger, never you mind, sorry:); I'll be able to share some of the most precious memories of my travel as well as my day-to-day adventures. Let's just hope that my s... full info
