Truth is the Answer Sheryl and Christina
I would like to make a comment on the Fishermen tribe.
several people died with HIV in this community. And also little children were died with malnutrition and poor sanitation. Even the drinking water is not that great. This village is known for the Chicken guinea and Dangue fever. My hope for this village is the child development project that IERF runs partnering with compassion International.
As our staff began to educate the community in several areas and also conducting free medical camps and health counselling people slowly began accpt the change and began different life style this chane is for good health. Now peopel do not fight like they use to, people now aware of what will cause the HIV and the consequences. And they are not allowing their children to go for child labor and etc...
The answer for all these problems is the "Truth".
We come to know about the truth and we are sharing that good news to others and the good lord is giving us patience.
joshi mammaiah Sheryl,Christina,
I came to this family in1997and I have been watching him ever since.Since then to now I have seen hundreds of orphan children in this orphanage . I might have hard time to remember all of their names, but not to my Father in law. He never maintains distance from children. The name it self when they call him "uncle joseph" its like a family. I know it ment a lot for these orphan children some of them who do not have a family. He is mentoring all these little ones and especially showing the love and compassion of Jesus.
I am so gald you are there.
Widow from HIgh Caste Hi guys, this is Vicky
I want to drop a note and tell little bit about this women. Her name is Thulasamma, she was born and raised in a High Caste Hindu family. She was very religious. The village she came from is very remote. Some how she heard about Jesus and began start to come to IERF church in ongole. She has to come a day before to attend the church , she don't want to miss any part of the worship.
Her family and village cast her out the family and village. But she faithfully served God and continue to live by faith. Her changed life showed the difference in the community and people showly talking to her and wanting to know what made the difference in her life. She began to witness in her village. After several years the family finally accpted her back in to the family and several others came to know about the truth.
The village Chief gave a good testimony about her.
She still lives in her village and travels to ongole on saturday to attend the church service on sunday
glad I could able to come Dear Film girls
What a Joy to be a part of this film project. I too miss you guys, but I am happy to see my wife and three little girls. Now I have been telling my kids about the stories of film girls. I told them one story its not that hard for christina to make friends. I told to Racehl my eldest one that I wrote a song and sang that, she asked me immediately how come you never sing for us? I told her it has to be Spon-taneous.
But I do have a song for each of my girls, ofcourse for Rebecca my wife I have several albums.
Wow down memory lane... I'm enjoying your humor, pictures, and adventure, but I'm especially enjoying going down memory lane....The stop beside the road reminds me of so many years ago of doing the same thing many times, but didn't have any ladies or kids watching. Down a back road and drop the drawers..hee hee. Also, one forgets that water buffalo have a male and female (mostly think of them as hard work, not milking) , didn't think about milking them, just like we milked the cows on the farm... Guess you didn't try fishing with the fishermen....you are having such a joyful time in this adventure...Wish I was doing the same...God bless both of you...Kandy PEACE
New business idea You may have something there...a brand new business idea. We can import and raise show quality water buffalo here in Durango. I am wondering, however, if water might just be the operant word in "water buffalo", meaning possibly that they need water to wade around in regularly. Not too much of that here in Durango, unless of course, we buy a big ranch on the river, or on a lake. It could become a tourist attraction, and we could have water buffalo drives through town, all of us armed with our little sticks and wearing ...saris?. Durango could be famous for it's water buffalo festival, with water buffalo BBQ and water buffalo milking contest, followed by a WB ice cream making contest. Wow, I think we are on to something great! Let's brainstorm when you get home. Try to sneak a few head (or horns) into your carryon luggage. love, Bonnie
water buffalo's are rad tune in next time when FilmGirls go to Austrailia and sing, "everybody's got a baby kangaroo, your's is pink and mine is blue, her's is small but then it grew oh everybody's got a baby kangarooooooooooo..."
i love the pictures and stories, i can't wait to hear all of them when you guys get back! looks like you're doing well, eat lots of that good food :)
Thank you for the picture and your blog Hi Sheryl and Christina, How wonderful that you met Pastor Daniel K. at the Pastor's conference...I'm wondering if you have seen his Grace Children's Home also. I have by the Grace of God been sending a little help to Daniel for around 2 and 1/2 years and trying to do special things for the orphans at Grace that they would never experience. We met thru a little girl at Grace (Mary) that had received one of our Operation Christmas Child shoebox's (we had sent box's since it started and that was first time we got a reply...Wonderful it is and God's mission for us. I would like to know if this comment gives you my e-mail address, because I would like when you are back home to mail you and find out some details about Ongole and traveling in India if it is okay with you......God bless your mission. Have a blessed day and thanks again...In Christ Love, Kandy

What Doug said I couldn't agree more with Doug. Each morning this is the first thing I do when I get up and the last thing I do before going to bed - check for updates and new messages. You two can't image the interest we all have in following your days. It is very fascinating!! I imagine that you both have plenty to do without updating the blog, but just know that we anxiously await each new entry.
You two are constantly in our thoughts and prayers,
Dave A
good trip/God trip Hey Christina,
You and Sheryl have not even come close to writing "way too much again". You have lots of friends waiting to read every word and installment, no matter the length. Both of you write stories that are interesting - keep it up!
Love ya Doug
Where is my comment? I submitted a comment earlier today but I do not see it on the blog page. Where is it? I don't want to say the same thing again. So maybe you could tell me if I am not looking in the right place. Anyway, I wanted to submit a PS. Send me the photos in my email address and not on the blog pages. I would like to download them. Let me know if you do not see my comment I sent this morning. You can email me. Thanks, Lee
Beautiful Nostalgia I have finally gotten time to review your blogs. I have been busy going from San Antonio to here and electronic stores trying to get my new Laptop established with wireless etc. I really like my new PC. Anyway, to your blogs.
I can rejoice with you for all the arrival attention and welcome you had. I had the same when I was there several years ago. I didn't tell you about it because I wanted it to be a surprise for you. It was sooooooo beautiful. Flowers, headbands, garlands around the neck, welcome songs, hugs, spotlights, etc. and all of it at midnight! The arrival of heads of states into other countries could not have any greater welcome. I remember gathering in Rachel's and Rev. K.'s room with many children coming in and chatting with us. Mom and Dad K. never objected and that was so impressive. The love factor was everywhere and permeated everything in the compound. Your pictures are marvelous and I truly enjoy seeing them because I remember the rooms where you are taking them. The children naturally are different, some are grown up and others have moved out. But the song goes on, praise the Lord!
I know what you mean about conflicting arrangements because every appointment is at a distance and requires travel time to get there. It is good that you have two cameras so you can split up if necessary.
Would you do me a favor? Please take a picture of the children I am teaching on the Internet so I can see them? I know that a couple have moved on but they have been replaced by others who know how to communicate in English well enough to understand what I am saying without a translator. I keep asking if they are understanding and they tell me they are. Thank you for the beautiful remembrances on this blog site. I'll talk with you again later. Lee
Where were all the boys? Hi Dave, purple nailpolish tends to scare away the boys. Christina's comment is "who cares?" But really, as far as I can tell males and females lead very seperated lives. I think it has a lot to do with Islamic and Hindu influences. The boys live and school in one area and the girls in another. I sometimes see them eating and playing together so I do not think it is a heavy handed rule so much as it is just the way things are done. Joseph has mostly girls, because girls are not frequently considered a family asset. They leave to join their husband's family and it costs a dowary to get rid of them. Joseph and his family do not believe that, nor does the church teach that, however Vicky related a story were on this visit a female active church member expressed her deep condolences on the arrival of his third daughter. We connected with the girls first, I am hoping we have opportunity to do the same with the fellas. Sheryl
Gathering-Trained Missing you, too, Lala. I think of you when I'm dealing with perception issues here regarding women and their role. Also, I so often feel like I'm at the Gathering! That training is helping quite a bit here. However, so far we have not found the mud-wrestling pit. We'll let you know if it surfaces...
What about the boys Sounds like a real party with the girls, and a total disruption of the routine! What are all the boys doing while this is going on?
My first time seeing Ongole entry on blogs. I always read the India blogs as I have a Pastor friend Pastor Daniel K. in Ongole that has the small orphans at Grace Childrens Home. He does have an uncle by the name of Pastor Joseph K. that has home for older children and I'm wondering if this is where you are at... I would like to know all about Ongole...Such interesting writings...
Wow! Wow! You girls have had quite the experience already. I really appreciate your posting and pictures . . . we can all live vicariously through you! And the flowers looked gorgeous. I'm amazed you've found time to post anything! I'd still be snoozin'.
Keep up the good work, stay safe, and have fun. That last one you don't seem to struggle with!
Hi!! I was so excited when I just checked your blog and there were all these entries and pictures. i'm really happy that you guys made it all the way there without too many problems. i wish i were there, it sounds very exciting!
