I am a retired educator. My dream has been to travel around the world to meet people and to experience various cultures and beliefs. I plan to travel solo for the flexibility to linger awhile where interests draw me. My hope is to stay with local people whenever possible. In 2008, I completed a four month solo travel around the world which took me to Peru, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, India, Nepal, Thailand, Australia, China and Mongolia. You cann view my blog for that trip at: www.globenotes.com/member/kwilkinson/
Beginning September, 2009, I plan to revisit friends and sites in five countries. I plan to spend a month in Nepal as a guest of a guide I met there last time and his family. It will be during two of the major festivals. I hope to do a month-long celebration of the completion of my SEVENTH decade (October 27) in Nepal and India. Countries I hope to revisit are Hong Kong, Thailand, Nepal, India and Egypt. In addition I am considering visits to Cambodia, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Morocco, London and New York. I hope to return in time for Christmas with my family.
Welcome to my blog! Let's journey together.

Only a few lodging reservations have been made as I continue to seek local people to host me as I go. My plan is to minimize the number of hotels/hostels in favor of local hosting. I've been thinking through what to carry in my small backpack and perhaps a small satchel for ... read more
