Wow,,, Those poor little babies. They want their children to work hard and have good lives I suppose but they are going a bit too far. Each culture has very drastic differences in practices. The United States seems pretty laizze faire when it comes to most things. I really love reading your blogs Erin!! I hope all is well with you and Dan. Take advantage of being there and love every minute! Miss you! <3
Lookin Great Everything looks awesome from this end and once again Mike and I are so proud of you and Dan... You will make all the parents of these kids proud.. You an inspiration to all of us!!! Keep up the good work... Can't wait to hear from you again!!!
So Lucky I'm so glad you got to see Dan and have less stress to be able to enjoy each other. It's great that Dan gets to spend some time with his brother.
I really want to shower, use the restroom, and brush my teeth all at the same time!!! It sounds like fabulous fun! Korea, here I come. hehehe. While you're making your list of observations, make sure you write down a "top things to cram into a ten day vacation to Korea" list for me.
I miss you lots! Tell Dan I said hi!
Great Blog! Enjoy reading your blog - since I plan to be teaching overseas - next fall also.
Hey just have your mom get a teaching job somewhere nearby too!
Hi Erin,
I'm enjoying reading of your adventures. I kind of know what you're going through, and believe me, it will get better.
Thanks for lending me your mom. I look forward to seeing her on Tuesday.
Big hugs,
Louise, Chloé and Patrick
flying solo Erin, I really respect you for what you have done. You have a whole new and foriegn world in which to explore. Please take the time to learn as much as you can about the culture, the way of LIFE that Koreans embrace. Learn their motives as well, for that will show you and Dan the true essence of the people. Theresa and I keep you lifted up in our prayers and remember to have fun on your journey. Tom
=) I am so proud of you Erin Marie!! Thank you for sharing your journy with me..I like these blog things..groovy*..keep posting.. Dont ever feel alone..your family and friends arent as far away as you may feel..keep in touch..Love to You and Dan..Your Cuz*
It's so good that you're starting to settle in. Hopefully your stuff will get out of storage soon. I know what you mean about feeling like you're camping not "home". Although my experience feeling that way was not from being in a foreign country so I'm sure you're feeling it even more intensely.
I am so happy for you Erin your blog had me in tears.... it is so sad the lack of respect from the students hear. If they only knew how lucky they were. Keep me posted. Love ya
Lisa
Flying Solo Oh, Erin, I love reading about your days. I know each one will get better and that you will make this time away from "home" something to remember. You certainly have wonderful kids and I wish our teachers were treated as well as you will be treated - respect??? That's a word needing much more practice in the States! Stay well, say hi to Dan and enjoy your book! I'm reading it right now as well! BC book for sure! xoo Kathy
Awesome. I have only corresponded with Erin a couple times but I love reading about your adventures. I hate to say this as it is a sin but I am green with envy. God bless you both on your new venture and keep everyone updated.
Miss Ya!!! omg your class is so adorable!!! I am so happy for you and Dan.. it looks like everything thing is going better and falling into place. I hope to hear more from you soon!!! We miss you guys!!! Mike Sends his Love!!!
Wow, how much has your life changed in a week! I love your apartment and your kids are so adorable, it looks like the Korean version Madeline in your classroom!
Dear Erin and Dan,
I have enjoyed your e-mails describing your experiences in your new surroundings. Please make time to write often as you both will be in my thoughts. Your Dad stopped in and got my computer working again, or I would have written sooner.
Love to you both, Grandma Alderman
The first day is the hardest day... Erin, I am blown away by your first day! I can just see you running around, thinking fast, and coming up with a teachers plan for your kids - without supplies and books! Remarkable! Your children are beautiful and choke me up when I see those beautiful little Korean faces - reminds me of my Christopher when he was little. Write often! I love to hear about your days! I'm no substitute for family, but I will be a friend who will write to you and listen to you ANYTIME! Keep up the good work! Fondly, Kathy
Bravo! Hey Girl, I found your comments insightful and humorous. I also think that with your command of the English language, the seeds of a wonderful book are being sown. I have lots of supplies that I can make available to you, so don't hesitate to ask. At first, when I heard that the Korean teachers wrote the lesson plans for you, I thought "what? nice, very nice" -- but hey, you didn't fall apart when they weren't there today (or, is it yesterday right now, I'm confused). That, my dear, is the mark of a great teacher, the ability to improvise! All of the BC girls have been living vicariously through your mother's travels - now we'll really get the "feeling" of Korea through your experiences. Take care and know that I wish you all the BEST!

Ohhhhh, Erin.... I'm glad you made it through your first day of teaching, but you're right...if you can make it through the first day totally unprepared, then you're going to do a great job! I'm proud of you for being so brave over there! (trains and busses all by yourself....in the first week!!!!) You'll do great, even if your mom isn't there. It'll just take some getting used to. I miss you!
So Happy!!!!! I'm so excited to hear all the interesting things happening to you so far. It's making me soooo excited to come see you! I'm thinking November, but you should feel out the seasons and let me know the best time of year! Love you!
Hi Erin
Reading you has been a pleasure! You're on a big adventure and it's great to hear about every step of it.
Hope you'll find anything you and Dan need.
If you have any question about your class, do not hesitate.
Good luck on your first day at work and on your next discoveries...
Auré
