Very Jealous Hi Emma,
Seems like your having such an amazing time, The stories are so interesting and definitely give me something to read while I have my cup-a-soup at work!! The pictures of you on top of Barri-loche are incredible; you are definitely going to have to get them printed on to a canvas and have them up around your house! Hope you are well and still having a great time.
Take Care, Lots of love

beer fest in valdivia they don't fly in germans for a beer fest, and certainly not to valdivia. those were chileans you saw, of german (or partial german) descent. valdivia, osorno, puerto mont, frutillar, and other towns in the lake district were settled by germans in the mid to late 19th century. their presence is generally exagerated in most guidebooks, but they did play an important role, disproportionate to their numbers, in developing the southern part of chile. sorry you didn't like valparaiso. it is by far the most intresting city in chile, but it's charm is in its hills, not the flat lower part of the city (and certainly not around the bus station, which is one of the dumpiest parts of town). good luck in the rest of your travels. cheers!
and... when's the next one?! Come-on! there's little excitement here in England. Although we did have a particularly hot April (now it's raining again). Can't wait to hear more rose-tinted adventures. j
WOW! Hi Emma, you certainly are having an adventurous journey. I have enjoyed reading about your exploits so far and look forward to hearing more. Graham sends his love as do I from sunny Wales. Sheila
Awesome Amazing! I think you should write a book Emma, I'd buy it. I love travel books, and your diary screams 'readme'! i want to see a Dragon! Hope all is going well still....when you get this. Keep writing...J
Bali hostels Hey Nigel, sorry for the delay:
In Kuta we stayed a few days in Ady's hostel-it has a little swimming pool and is off a little side road near to the Aussie bar and K-mart. Morning tea is included. Also staying in one at the moment in Poppies Gang2 that has breakfast included and is only 45,000 for 2 sharing. This is ideal as it's more central and cheaper. It's near to Ocean cafe or similar.
In Ubud-north of Kuta we stayed just outside Ubud in Sari homestay. There's plenty in Ubud itself, mainly down Monkey road, but we liked to go a bit quieter and cheaper. Hope this helps? Have fun! Emma
Having survived a multitude of bizarre occupations in various counties, some good, others bad and a few very ugly, I have finally raised enough funds to fulfil my quest for a magic carpet from the Far East and have afternoon tea and marmalade sandwiches with Paddington Bear in Peru. Also it will be a novelty to live mitten and scarf free for a while and allow the sunshine to warm my toes!
Wish me luck and fingers crossed I make it out the airport...... full info
