Atmosphere It's funny but the atmosphere you describe about ground ground zero is exactly how I imagine it would be.

Hotels in Nairobi I am leaving for Nairobi next week. How about going from the airport to the hotel? I mean are taxis are safe to travel alone in Nairobi? Which hotel you suggest me is safe and affordable? Thanks
Sorry Jamil, I've only just seen this. It's probably too late for me to give you any useful information, but I found that it was best for the hotel to arrange all of my taxis, including transportation from the airport. Hope you had a good trip to Nairobi!

Jo'Burg Got my uncle to take me to Hilbrow when I went to Jo'Burg some 27 years ago as a South African friend had recommended a place called 'Milky Lane' which was like a milkshake type place. A beautiful country in terms of scenery xxxxxxxxxxx
in a strange way I really like that museum's idea of forcing that uncomfortable, brutally honest moment at the doors.... it brings it right up the present and forces you to not detach yourself from the situation. Very clever and I'm sure does more for reinforcing the more tolerant situation nowadays than a straightforward museum procession would do.

Oh well, can't all be good! Pretty crappy tour guide by the sounds of it - I always think it's better to wander around by yourselves but I suppose for three western girls on their own that's not the brightest idea there by the sounds of it. The beach always makes things better though! xx
Amazing tales Hi Emma, congratulation on further fabulous blogs. It actually feels like I'm there with you. Again incredibly written. Glad you're having the time of your life! Xx
I'm a 20-something, stuck in a rut, small town girl who has been afflicted with something that keeps me awake at night and makes it difficult to focus on the mundane, and which occasionally sees me breaking into a silly smile at inappropriate moments as I imagine myself stepping out of my comfortably routine life and into a world where I can find who I really am through new experiences and memories to last a lifetime. I believe they call it wanderlust.
My travels will begin in January 2012, when I set off for Africa with a Lonely Planet guidebook as my sole companion. I don't claim to be a ... full info
