That sounds like an AWESOME day off for sure :-)
Gee, having a license suspended after two speeding tickets that is harsh (unless your friend went like 30 above the limit which I doubt) - for how long do they usually suspend it?
hey!!! hey emilie!!
can't believe i found your blog, I was surfing the net trying to find out whether the sakura had finally blossomed or not in Shibushi, and I cam across a picture that looked very similar to some of the boys who were in ninensei last year! Then i clicked something and it led to your blog!!! So cool. I can't believe kazuto sensei got married! I'm sure ESS club did a great debate on the idea of him being a good husband!! Well, hope your having fun, things seem to be going better, I wish I could've experienced the wedding though. Oh well, life's getting back to normal... slowly. Once you leave you will miss it...ironic.

I love reading your stories, thanks for sharing! "We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee".

You continue to amaze me Hi Emilie:
I love to read about your experiences and of course the impact you're making. Remember you'll never really know the impact you're having and it won't be on the person who shows the most interest - it will be someone you think doesn't even listen or pay attention to anything you say.... and you've certainly impacted me by showing me what courage and strength can get a person through. The lesson here - never give up and wake up each day with the intent of making a difference and leaving people (in every interaction) better than you found them.
Also thank you for the postcard - you made my day :-)
Take care and I look forward to your next entry. Luv,
Kelly
You are brave eating a fish that is alive LOL. And running a half-marathon is definitely something! I am such a bad runner and I really admire people who can do so well! :-)
That's cool... Hey Em,
That's a cool trip. Thanks for the picture of your place it looks really nice and now I can put a picture to some of the stories. I told you the kids looked up to you...that's awesome they're starting to show their respect. Talk later... Orion
Hey Em, that sounds really fun. I never knew that in Japan the bride and groom would change clothes so often juring the reception. I love Eriko's first outfit, the wedding kimono, it's beautiful! The club sounded really cool. 6:00am? Wow, I think 4:00-4:30am is the latest I've been out at the ones here. As for Sunday, that's always the day you pay for all the fun. lol! Hope you wern't feeling too sick. Can't wait to hear what you've bee up to next! :)
Love you Em! xoxoxo

Excellent Hey Em,
Glad to hear you're still alive. I was wondering what happened, not having received a blog for some time. Sounds like everything is coming together, work, living, and traveling. I'm glad you're venturing out on your own, it makes a real difference to do that on many levels. As I'm sure you're noticing.
I with I was there traveling too!!!

what an exotic answering machine!! A belated birthday wish little Golden Pear - tried calling, and will try again - kind of a "oh hell, it's the 12th, and she's left for school" effort, but figured out that Kagoshima's city code was different from the number in your e-mail, so took a shot... so if you get a message then I'm in the right part of the universe. Couldn't really tell from that message - sounded like the PA announcements in gateway air terminals!
Ikaga desu ka?
Otanjou-bi Omedetou Gozaimasu!
Ahhh, to google the universe!
Dewa kore de.

Spiders are good luck I don't know about geckos... Those are great pics. So have you settled into the place now that you've got the place furnished the way you like it?
By the way I shot you an email through this web site, did you receive that? Cheers, Orion
The bathing resort sounds awesome!!! Having only a shower in my suite, I would definitely enjoy a nice long bath, especially in a place like that!
The gecko story is hillarious! :-)))
Hey Em! Your trip sounds so amazing, I'm always eager to read your next post. Friends from my program at collage would go through priods of homesickness to, I know it can be hard some times but remember that we love you and are thinking of you too!
I'm really glad to hear you're feeling better now though.
I can totally sympothize about the spiders, I can't stand them when I catch one crawling around the basement or worse, in my room... Blarg...
Your host family sound so great and welcoming, The pic of your host brother Kyosh, pouting in the traditional clothing was so cute! I had to laugh. and I love the one of you in the traditional dress, that's so cool!
I'm really going to have to save up some money and visit you, It sounds so intresting! Can't wait to hear from you!
xo Kel
P.S. Mom, Dad and Matt send their love too!
Hey Emilie, I'm really glad things are improving and you've had some uplifting experiences over the last couple of weeks. It definitely makes a difference to have a house that really feels like home, with your own stuff in it. Miss you! Talk soon! Sarah xo

hang in there Em Love your blog and admire that you're out there living life to the fullest. Hang in there, you'll get over the homesickness, time will help and keeping busy, as you are doing, will make time pass. We love you and thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Hi Em, you are doing great! Glad to hear the homesickness got better - it will probably come back every once in a while, but it definitely sounds like you got over the worst part of it and you are enjoying your stay there again. Way to go, hang in there! :-)
Thank you for sharing Hi Emilie
It sounds like you are experiencing so many new adventures but I can certainly see that you're missing home. I admire your courage and remember that you have more strength than you know.
The pictures are beautiful and I love your stories - except for the ones about the spiders as I share your dislike for them and cringe when I read about all of your new creepy friends.
Take care and please keep in touch - and remember we're all still here thinking of you. Luv,
Kelly
Emily, its a priviledge to follow your progress, up the mountain and down again. I too am amazed at your outlook. There will be no corner of Japan that you won't have savoured by the time you come home. You are a very entertaining writer, and we are all so lucky to see the world through your eyes.
Guess I miss home Orion, your comment almost made me cry! I miss everyone back home like crazy and getting your encouraging comments made me remember how much I miss you. I'm so happy so many people are keeping in touch!
