Yesterday I started writing another entry, but somehow I pushed a button that leads to the previous page, so I have to start all over again.. Luckily that it's Sunday, perfect day for sitting at home and writing. Alright, where to start? Since I've arrived in Waterloo a lot of fun stuff happened already. It wasn't snowing as was the forecast, but there still is old snow everywhere so it looks beautiful! When I was in the van that brought me to the University, I didn't really feel like I was in another continent. Also didn't experience a cultureshock yet, it just feels so natural to be here. The busdriver was a really nice man, he told me what I definitely should see in Waterloo. Too bad I was to tired to remember anything. Just remembered ... read more

Distance to destination: 720 miles Time to destination: 1.38 hours Time at city of departure: 16.56 Time at destination: 10.56 Altitude: 11502 meters Groundspeed: 826 km/h Temperature: -51 degrees celsius Estimated time of arrival: 12.38 Currently flying above: Baie-Ste.-Claire While I am waiting for time to pass by in this airplane, I figured I might as well start on writing a new blog entry. The nicest thing that struck me was that I’ve already met a lot of nice people along the way. For example, yesterday I’ve met a lady called Gonnie in the train to Brussels. The train was so full that I had to stand in the small compartment where the bathrooms are. Also there was Gonnie, a really friendly woman that asked where I was going. Apparently she had travelled a lot and ... read more

It started by not hearing my alarmclock again, and waking up with a feeling of exitement. 'I have to go, I still have to pack my underwear and my this and that and... go to the opticien, go to the store, take a bus, take a train.' And I even had to vacuum my room before I left, so my plan to leave at 11 didn't go as I anticipated. But that's how it goes when you travel. Either way, Derya was so relaxed as always. She understands how important it is to stay calm when you have to leave for a long time. Eventually I ended ... read more

Wow, 2010 is over and 2011 begun with a really big bang! The nice, quiet evening that I had in mind didn't end up happening at all. My roommate Simon* ended up in the hospital and I had to wait for 3 hours for any information from the doctors. It was in the middle of the night so the doctors pretty much ignored us most of the time. The hart- and respiratory machine kept bleeping and showing disturbing graphs. The doctors said it was nothing and just gave him some liquid through a tube.. After three cups of coffee and a lot of waiting, we were out of there. They hadn't found anything and thought he should go see a general practitioner when he feels better. Probably too much alcohol, and he needed to go to ... read more
