Hullo Wotcha former blog buddy. Sounds smashing - make sure that Paz does some blogging, I want to hear both perspectives of this trip.
Please tell me Paz at least tried to stand up on the sandboard. He made snowboarding look so easy that he would've been a natural.
Thank you No problem at all Mr and Mrs Cowen, I have enjoyed writing it, I am glad you have enjoyed reading it. Journey home will be detailed over the next few days, it was fine thanks. Sorry if you read the postcard I sent Rob.
Thanks for keeping up the blog Thanks for keeping up the blog - we've enjoyed reading it, especially after the teamamerica one ended! Hope you have a pleasant journey home and good luck with your new job.
James, I am glad you are enjoying my blog, I presume this is why you are reading it. If you don´t like it please stop reading it. Either way, please stop abusing me, there really is no need.
It is quite normal for Brits to leave their own country actually, I think I have probably done it perhaps 35-40 times, perhaps even more.
Terrible blog Maybe not such a terrible blog...but you sound like a complete douchebag. The sheer volume of your complaining and simpering through the dialouge of your essay was astounding. Real proud of you for getting out of your own country, but I am always quite in disbelief when someone of your disposition belly aches his way through the trip. Just glad I wasn't there with you.
Hi man, thanks for your message. I was having a great time, the last few days have been a bit of a low point but it´s set to pick up again now - all will be revealed in the blog soon. How did you find the trip all in all? I read your blog entry so I suppose that pretty much covers it. How are you coping with your inevitable addiction to endorphins? I am back on about the 21st of September and start work on the first, I´ll look you up at some point.
Ed
Hey mate - sounds like your still having a wicked time over. I'm missing not travelling around loads and strangely missing not having to spend 4 hours a day in the saddle.
I met a girl on my flight from madrid to gatwick who had been in mexico for 7 weeks doing something pretty similar and had a good chat.
How much longer are you out for and when do you start in London. Will meet up for drinks and catch up.
See you in a bit
Alex
Head Sorry for the lateness of the reply - my head was actually ok, I just felt a little dizzy and worn out. I had a bit of a headache because you sweat so much around here but I drank plenty of water before I went to bed like a good boy.
Haha - I knew it. You just couldn't resist Harry Potter! We finished it a couple of weeks ago, though Al is now working through it a second time; presumably he missed the key plot lines in his first sitting.
Enduring Freedom Yeah it´s freedom and you were the only recipient of that one. I´m leaving Cancun today - I´ve got bored. Going to Tulum. Another postcard I sent had an airmail sticker put on the front when I gave it to the post office. Strange.
Ignore my postcard comment - I have guessed the word - it's freedom, right Ed? Hence the double meaning you refer to in the card (ha ha, well spotted). So no reason for censorship. The presence of the Twin Towers is irrelevant. Now that I look closely, there are little orange lines on the sticker so I think these must mean "send this one to England" or something like that. Not a politico-historical artefact after all. Damn. I'll keep my conspiracy theories to myself from now on and stay off your blog! At least your friends can now see where you get it from.
Life in Cancun Enjoyed all your blogs - the US diary made an interesting contrast to Rob's, showing incidents from another viewpoint. Cancun seems exciting but it sounds as though survival may depend on alternative entertainments, sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch or maybe a tapestry of your adventures; the last good one was completed in 1089. Or maybe more blog and less grog!
Best wishes!
Brian and Eileen
PS Thanks for providing Rob with such good company - I am reliably informed that you are more entertaining than a TomTom.
following in my footsteps! Ed you've just been doing exactly what we did! you stayed in the same hostel on W104th and you went to the little church at Ground Zero where we sang...Also to the cathedral where we sang which had an insane reverb going on - not that impressive atm because of all the building work though? I've just been putting NYC photos up on fbook - think you might recognise some of them! Loving the blog - Flo, Alex and I keep telling the other one about it and laughing a lot! you've definitely been missed though at all the random parties and meals we've been having!! xxxxx
stars and sticky strips Yo Ed. It seems that Cancun is just like they say. Ugh. Anyway something rather interesting has happened and I'm blogging it in case it's of interest to some of your blog-reading mates. Your postcard of the twin towers has arrived (thanks), with an opaque sticker neatly positioned on the front over the second word. I can only think that this is censorship. It's too neat to be a random sticker that got stuck. What IS the second word? ("Enduring xxxxxxx"). I didn't pull off the sticker to find out because (a) it is presumably designed to destroy the surface of the card if you do that (b) it is a much more interesting political momento as it is. Presumably your local store keeper is just selling off old stock and doesn't see the irony, whereas the international mail man has seen this one before and is ready with his stickers. Fair play to him for not just binning the card, as would happen in Cuba. Any of Ed's mates had the same experience with the same card?
Take care - Mexicans are fine but watch for those dodgy Brits.

Galludet To be honest, I really didn´t get a proper like. But I imagine not as they are all on their summer vacation. I thought that was sorted out a while ago though? Let me know if I´m wrong I don´t have time to look it up realy.
I have been missing your blogs, Ed. Keep them coming, they're funny. I want to hear more about the food, having never been to America myself, and you seem to convey the eating experience in such detail it's like I'm there... Hand language love xxx
New York - not yet Thanks for your comment Mary. No I'm not in NY yet, I'm in Niagara Falls, had a brilliant day. We'll be there in less than a week I think, see www.teamamerica2007.com for a full itinerary. Did you go to all of those places? Who did you go with? Unfortunately I won't be going to any of the other places you recommend although I think the others may be.
new york Ed are you really in New York?! Heck! I was there only last week....!
You have to go to Central Park because it's so wonderful. Also, for day trips from New York; Philadelphia is really interesting as that's where the Liberty Bell is and where the declaration of Independence was signed etc..(all against those evil British colonisers...) Also Princeton is beautiful - the uni is modelled on Cambridge and the houses around town are all clapboard with verandas - exactly like in movies....!
Where are you off to next and when? It's so exciting! Wish I had enough money to come see you - unfortunately Brett and I are trying to organise our summer holiday with a meagre budget of £150 each...hmm.
Anyways good luck - keep us all informed! xxx
Cheers Alex, I'll pass it on to the others, they were considering doing a day trip there from New York but I don't think they will have time in their schedule now.
Visit Boston! Hey Ed,
I'd thoroughly recommend visiting Boston and some of New Hampshire. I went a couple of summers ago and had an awesome time. In Boston you can take a Duck tour of the city in an amphibious vehicle (http://www.bostonducktours.com/) and lots of other good stuff.
Look forward to hearing more from your blog.
Alex
Hello. The stuff below is old. Basically I'm just going on a little holiday to Peru but am quite self-indulgent and think you all want to read about it so am doing another blog a bit. Love Ed
My time at the University of Durham has ended, following a handshake with Bill Bryson in Durham Cathedral last week and I have three months until my time at Redbridge Borough Council in North East London begins. I may never have the chance to bugger off to somewhere poor for a few months again so despite the lack of a travel buddy, I have decided to traverse the Americas. Not all of them of cours... full info
