Good trip Hello thanks for your good news and pictures. My english is very bad, and I take opportunity to go Accra for three months too. But I would like to find a family who speak english where I can stay there, take care of children and to do hometask. My aim is to learn english.
Ghanian tro tro slogans. Great blog post. Thank you. I googled "African tro tro slogans" and found this. Don't know why it crossed my mind now, but I used to live in Ghana in the late 90's and my favorite was a tro tro called "There is no Hurry in Life". So funny for a bus that was always late. And a shop in my village called "Time is Money Cafe" It was just a roadside booth that sold peanuts and the dude was always sleeping. Good memories.
Modernization of stations It is time for the STC bus stations to be modernise. It looks too congested in the face of Ghana according to the photos presented.
Finally the bus time have be overhall to avoid kaos in all locations, more buses have to be employed for everyone to get access it. When I was a young boy, the STC bus station Accra was very beautifull.
Very good Picture "VIP WC" in Ghanaand a good observant Hello Ms. Dorothy Appleyard,
My name is Papa Cole; a Ghanaian and Cape Coaster; from Cape Coast.
I am living in Stuttgart Germany; and observing critically our problems concerning household and street waste, water supply, use and wastewater problems and other misuse of our environmental as a whole.
I am now working on an environmental project about the awareness and studies of Ghanaian (African) Society's growing 'manmade environmental problems studies and its impacts'.
I am also finding ways how to educate, teach and help the societies to understand the basics principles of the growing problems using or applying our own African story telling philosophy, but not necessary adopting European teaching style or methods when necessary.
I have being visiting your Site, Travel Blog and have the interest of using some of the environmental scenes from your photos gallery concerning this topic.
My reason of calling on you is to ask for the correct way to allow me or have the permission to use these photos.
By the way the title of my script is 'The first animal Summit'; A revolt against human abuse of the environment.
I think there is nothing to say now than to wait for your advice or whom I must contact to obtain permission to use some of the photos in the photo gallery.
My warmest greetings
Papa Cole
Mobile phones Hi Lesley!
I would say its probably cheapest to keep your current mobile (but make sure it is unlocked so it can accept local SIM cards) and then buy a local SIM card. I just asked my friend how much we paid for it, she says 1 cedi which is less than 50pence, I thought it was a bit more, but either way its still cheap! Sending a text in Ghana costs less than 2pence (between Ghanaian SIM cards). Its much cheaper to call home to Britain from a Ghanaian SIM card than it is using a UK SIM over here. Mine doesn't work anyway! Hope that helps and you have a good trip! x
mobiles Hi

Hi Wendy Hi Wendy, thanks for your message. Its nice to hear my blogs are helpful! Do you know if she will be in Accra? Its a shame I'm leaving on the 9th September otherwise we could have met up! I have met quite a few 17 year olds here with Projects Abroad, and even one 16 yr old, so i'm sure she'll be fine. If she wants to look at my photos she can add me on Facebook - Dorothy Appleyard. I can never manage to get that many up on here because its really slow!x
Thanks for the info! My daughter Margo will be in Ghana with Projects Abroad from Sept. 21 for three months. She's only 17 so of course I will worry about her, although she traveled to Germany on her her own at 16. The whole family are really enjoying your blogs and the fact that you're preparing her for what to expect. Nothing has fazed her so far, and I think she has the same sense of humour as you, which I think will be a great way to handle the different conditions she'll be living under. She'll be working in an orphanage (not sure exactly where yet) and also in a hospital. She's from the west coast of Canada, so has a long way to travel to get there, but is looking forward to everything, including meeting other volunteers like you. Keep up the great blogs and sense of humour!
Sincerely, Wendy Milton

Hi denise! Glad you had a good holiday and got to see Ephesus! What did you think of Cleopatra's pool at Pammukale? Its never nice going back to work after a good holiday! I think i'll get reverse culture shock when I come back home lol. The weather sounds the same as here, although a little hotter here, but it has been raining a bit too! Congrats on losing that after being on holiday! And its only half on overall. I haven't even been thinking about calories here lol.
Missing you all too! Tell everyone I said hi from Ghana! x x x
Hi Dorothy
glad you have arrived safely and are enjoying your stay, it sounds amazing. I had a great holiday and visited Ephesus and Pamukale which was awesome. I am finding it hard to get back into the swing of things. The weather here is realy hot at the moment and forecast to get hotter 27 degrees on Friday. But then guess what-rain. I went to WW and lost 2.5 pound, how do you do that on holiday? I went again this week put 3 back on.
Everyone at work says Hi- we all really miss you. Things are really busy at the moment and I am so tired-must be my age. Well I am ready for bed now so am signing off. take care and I look forward to reading your next update
