Last time I came to LA, I forgot to see the Hollywood sign. Not this time!
I don't know how Sonia does it, but she has managed to sleep for 10 hours of a 13 hour flight! Me, I slept about 2. Hollywood has not changed much since I was here 9 years ago, apart from the main attractions (Chinese and kodak theatre, every other shop is either a tattoo parlour with some wild eyed Los Anglean standing out front, or a souvineer shop with 100's of fake oscar statues. Few things are more exciting than only having 4 hours of work left, then knowing you don't have to come back to the office for SEVEN weeks....well maybe retirement....but thats a long way off. Packing is mostly complete, bit of a different experience packing the backpack for this holiday compared to previous trips. (you wouldn't believe how much space a ski jacket can take up!) Weight reduction is a priority. Having to lug a backpack around everywhere makes you think twice whether you really need to take all the lonely planet books we got for 40% off at Borders. This is our first entry for Roger & Sonia's 6 week adventure to Central America and West Coast USA. I have created this entry so I can work out how to use this web site.... Well we have just over 4 weeks until we leave for our big trip. We are traveling with GAP Adventures, who's tours aren't of the usual type. No Air conditioned buses or resort accommodation here. Their tours are all about using local transportation and simple accommodations including Home Stays (staying with local families).
