March 13th and 14th 2011 We woke up to a cold morning in the Ayr camping ground in St Ives, and spent more than our allotted time in the superior bathroom facilities! Underfloor heating, music piped into the rooms, lights that come on automatically when you enter, etc. Very posh I must say and best of all, fantastic hot showers. We eventually managed to drag ourselves away and headed to Lands End. This is obviously a tourist haunt during the summer months where they try and fleece you for every penny, including photos with the sign, which they take out so you can't take your own photo. Who needs a sign anyway, as long as we know where we are, we'll let you know as well. Dean managed not to fall off the dangerous cliffs, and ... read more

13th March 2011 The weather gods are shining upon us as it rained only during the night, and this morning we woke up to a perfect blue sky, but a wind that is like ice! However, we were able to ditch the coats as the day went on and you have to look at our photos on Facebook to see the proof! Not as much driving today as We were closer to the places that we wanted to see. After waking up in the Budemeadows campground, we left after a nice cooked breakfast to see the legendary home of King Arthur, Tintagel. Amazing old castle rem ants perched on a piece of formidable coastline. Also a very old post office! As it was Sunday, it didn't open till 11am. What is the postal service coming too! ... read more

11th and 12th March 2011 OK, so the deal is that Internet is going to be intermittent from now on so we will type it, save it and post it online when we can. We decided to walk to Paddington station from the hotel which didn't take too long and caught the train to Hayes Harlington to pick up the camper. Spent an hour there going over the vehicle and finding out all it's little tricks before hitting the M4 to Bath. Most of the day was spent learning just how much we can trust and have faith in the GPS. She's a bit of a tart and it appears that she likes to send us down many small country lanes and by passing towns. Our camper is called TinMan so today Dean named the GPS ... read more

I have been appointed official blog writer today as Shelley's hands are sore from pointing out all the things to see, as I am a slower typist than Shelley it may take you longer to read this one. Today started with catching the Tube to Tower Hill and a walk around the Tower of London, where Shelley listen patiently (and for at least 20 mins look suitably interested) while I went on and on about the stonework in the place, I was amazed at the size of the place and the history surrounding it. After an hour or so the crowds arrived and it was time to move on, a quick coffee stop and a walk over the Tower Bridge and then along the Thames towards St Pauls Cathedral for a look. Lunch was a hot ... read more

We have spent the day wandering around London, exploring the sights and trying not to lose our way too much. A bit hard to do without a detailed map! However, even though Dean scoffed at my navigational skills, more than once, I still managed to get us to the places we wanted to go! We are having a bit of trouble uploading photos to the blog site so bear with us while we get it sorted. we will put some on Facebook.Anyway, a bit about what we did today. Took an early bus to Westminster, and after getting off the bus a stop or two before we should have, took the first of my walking detours around the general area, not sure where!!! Until we spotted the familiar landmark of Big Ben and knew we were ... read more

Well we made it! 32 hours traveling since we left Akl airport and now we're sitting in a pub called the Black Lion, having a pint and a pie. We left on a beautiful NZ autumn morning and have arrived here on a beautiful, if slightly more chilly spring morning. The room in the hotel is not ready for us to check into yet so we have had a wander around Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Sheer tiredness is getting the better of us however, so the pub is where we may stay until 1pm when we can get into our room and crash for a bit.... read more

Well here we are, finally on our way. It's been a hectic week, leaving work, packing up the house and putting it in storage and spending precious time with family and friends before we said goodbye. At the time of writing we are sitting in Changi airport, Singapore, with another 4 hours before the next flight to Frankfurt. So far we're holding up pretty well and Dean has even been quite well behaved! Will write more when we make it to London. Special love to the kids. Xxxx... read more

Summer of 2010. Dean was the seasoned rider and Shelley the novice. We set off on a 2 day trip from Whangarei, taking the back roads to Kaikohe, past Kerikeri to stay the night in Mangonui. Next day was another back roads journey up the east coast, through Kaitaia and back down through Opua and home to Whangarei. Great weather and great riding! ... read more
