In Africa, eco-tourism is catching on fast and many institutions advertise themselves as eco-friendly destinations. In many cases they are, however many travelers are unaware of the impact on natural habitats that some game farms have. For instance many farmers have converted crop producing land to game farming which is good news for the wildlife if this is done under the guidence of environmental assessors and zoologists, but not if land owners don't seek the necessary skills required for the smooth transition. Many visitors to Africa will not experience the true essence of the african wildlife as there has always been a preconceived ideal- very similar to to image portrayed by 'Out of Africa'.
