All SoTrue Sounds like you guys had a great trip. Reading your stories makes me so sad to have left Asia.. I just left bangkok yesterday ;( Loved the title... same same but different... hahah.. Everything is same same!
Glad you guys enjoyed your trip, and you've got some really good photos.. would love to see the rest... it's been far too long since i last saw you guys.
The Girl in the picture I actually have that book! I saw Kim Phuc (the girl in the picture) speak in February - she is such a cute woman, and such an amazing story!
Can't beleive how one-sided things are there, pretty crazy!
See you guys soon!!
just over a week wow. i cant believe that you have been gone so long. the frequent updates (and catching you online) has made this time fly right by. cant wait for you to drop by Korea next week. care to stay and extra few days;):) see you in 10 days
You are certainly getting the full range of human experiences - the "fight" on the bus must have been nerve-wracking. It would seem that Viet Nam is not yet ready to have a smooth tourist industry; some want capitalism to happen too quickly. Perhaps they have not really yet forgiven the western world!
Love Ya - and STAY SAFE.
surreal photos! Glad you guys are so reflective and open minded about your travels! You really are fabulous travellers!
As always, I love your pictures, that first one seems so unreal! Can't wait to see all of them at the end of August!
Glad you are in \"safe\" Viet Nam After watching the news from Lebanon, I never thought I would say this but I'm glad you are in such a "safe" place as Viet Nam!!!
The picturew are amazing - you will have lots to submit to the Star's
place in the world guessing contest. (That sounds like an Alzheimer's moment!) We're experiencing hot weather too right now - but probably not quite the same intensity that you have. Wow - home in less than a month! At this end, it seems like the time has gone quickly.
Continue to Keep Safe! Love 'Ya
wanderlust takes hold Hi guys! This is Ryan's friend Kirsta from Guelph. I've been reading your journal since day one and let me tell you, my feet are quite itchy haha. I'll be going to Korea in Sept as well and when I get some time off I'll be sure to use this as a reference guide. Lonely Planet be damned, this is better! :)
WoW!! Thanks for this vicarious experience; I'm sure it'll be the only way we'll "see" Laos. And we do ask-HOW will you adjust to "Guelph life"?
But we do look forward to your return and to hearing more of your adventures. love, B and E.
now you're talkin! we love tom yum soup, spring rolls and curry! so get home soon so you can feed us! have fun and make sure to contact brian when you're in hanoi! hugs n kisses.
I wish I was there Hi Dawn and Paul;
I am a friend of your aunt Patti and she has kindly let me read your blogs as you have travelled and I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy them. Several years ago (20) I backpacked around for awhile and visited some of the places you have mentioned so I am reliving the pleasure of my trip through you. Thank you and Happy Travels!

climbing paul, it is good to see you out on the rock again. i cant wait to touch the same rock you did. too bad it wont be just the two of us.
cheers

Ian Wright! I love Ian! He also did Lonely Planet, which I was addicted to for a couple of years. He's hilarious.
Thanks for bringing us a bad-day description. Those are always funny memories later.
Keep having fun. xoxo
Hey, I think we did the exact same stuff in KL when my friends and I went a few months ago. We went to Penang too. I should've mentioned this during your last post, but the tidbit in the Lonely Planet about the A/C in the Malaysian buses and ferries is dead on. We stinkin' froze in every bus/ferry we took in Malaysia. What's crazy is that as soon as you step outside its like 30+C, but they try and deep freeze you during your rides. Ah, nice pictures of the Highlands by the way. We wanted to go, but couldn't cuz of time. Looking forward to seeing pics of Krabi. My friend Dave said it was his favorite place in Thailand. The muesli is supposed to be really good.
Good to know that you enjoyed your time in Singapore. Reading your blog makes me so tempted to do more travelling in my own backyard before heading back to London.
In case you're wondering how I located your blog... interestingly, I stumbled upon it as I was doing a google search to find the name of a vineyard we went to in Stellenbosch.
Have fun exploring the rest of S.E. Asia.
Hey,
have had fun so far reading about your trip. I had a really great time in Malaysia when I went too, except we were only there a week, not nearly long enough to see everything. We ended up going to Penang and Langkawi, which were pretty cool. Oh well, another time I guess. Have fun going through SE Asia! I'm hoping to make another trip down there before I leave China
HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY PAUL Your 26th was a little more exotic than mine. I will try to step it up for my 27th! Everything still sounds absolutely amazing. I love hearing about all the scuba diving that you have been able to do because I am starting to take the course. Keep the blogs coming!
Happy Birthday Buddy! Looks like a nice way to spend your 26th. See that the kind of vacation I could get behind none of that sleeping in the dirt or eating things you can't pronounce. Great photos as usual!
Glad to see you "up-scaling" it and enjoying your "vacation". It's sort of like "retirement". You are certainly packing a wide range of activities into your daily lives. We applaud that!
We have just booked a 3 week trip to China and Bangkok, Thailand in November. When you are in Bangkok, please note places, etc. that we "older folk" might like!!! May your excellent adventures continue happily.
Love,
Barb and Eric
wow what an adventure you've had dear dawn and paul...we've been loving your informative blogs and look forward to the next one each week. the pictures and your vivid descriptions make us feel like we've been along for the ride!! can't believe that you're off on another adventure in another far off place....and can't wait to hear from you again!! lots of love and good cheer, jim and anne
Thank you I've been your reader since the first chapter (I know it sounds crazy but I've printed all your blogs for collection) and cant wait for your next adventure. Hopefully I can experience the same exitements like yours when I join the truck tour next time.
We're with you! Hi Dawn and Paul. Your African tales have been extraordinary! They've given us great insight into your travels, history, current events and the continent. I've learned so much and now I want to go travelling. Keep in touch. It's like a fix, so we're going to keep needing it to spice up our regular lives over here.
xoxo
We are a Canadian couple, Dawn & Paul and we have decided to take a break from our jobs and travel for 6 months in Africa and Asia.
