Hotel tour, breakfast and gift
H Dave, I follow my daughter-in-law’s travel blog (Playagal) and ran across your blog. I had to chuckle at your experience with the so called hotel tour, breakfast and gift. I had a similar experience this morning. Yesterday a charming chap on 5th Ave (Adolfo) invited my wife and me to “his” little resort hotel (The Reef) to have a tour, take some pictures and have breakfast and we would qualify for an appreciation gift of $100 US. Our only obligation was to keep the Reef in mind when planning a return trip to Playa del Carmen and to tell our friends what a great vacation spot we found. Of course there was a lot more to it than that. As in your case after about four or five meet and greet “hosts and hostesses”, three with forms to fill out, the 90 minute presentation (ie sales pitch) was to begin. At this point I had enough and ended it without the tour, without breakfast and of course no $100. Thanks for sharing your experiences at Playa del Carmen. A fellow traveler, Ray .

Hi guys
Sounds like you guys are really making the best of your time there, great way to keep up todate with what your doing although it's all a bit much for your poor old dad to keep up with loz. Looking forward to seeing some photo's. Love nat, dad and maddie
