Rome is a must-see city on our planet. If you are a person who likes to get lost in historical atmosphere, in lively and crowded streets then you should definitely add Rome to your bucket list. I stayed there for 8 days and most people said that it is too many days for Rome but for me it was not even enough. Rome is a city where you can walk all around, if you are lazy to walk, metro system would help. There are a lot of history to learn and explore and even witness. City is safe and lively all day. If you like pizza, pasta and ice-cream then you are on paradise...
I always make a list of the places that I want to visit and check their websites in advance to see how I can obtain tickets and discounts if possible. There is a package called Rome-Pass and it might help for a quick trip in Rome. It includes 3 museums and 3 days free metro ticket, but unfortunately it doesn\\\'t include Vatican city museum entrance which is a must !
A quick list of my favorite places in Rome:
- Castel Sant'Angelo (haunted and fascinating)
-Vatican city and Sistine Chapel (truly amazing)
-Spagna (full of people)
-Fountain de Trevi ( The most romantic place on earth)
-Pantheon (free)
-The Colosseum and all the historical area around including hipodrom
-National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II ( you can see the building from everywhere, it looks like a huge wedding cake)
There is a street named Via Del Corso which kind of divides the city in two and it is a nice street with many shops and stores. At the end of that street you will reach to Victor (Vittorio) monument (the wedding cake), just for your info at the time when that monument was made wedding cake was a criticizer used by public but today it is a big tourist attraction and a great place where you can climb to the top of the building and see a fascinating view of the city.
Rome is full of little B&B hotels, most of them are clean and nice. I stayed very close to Termini station, it was easy to walk anywhere, I hardly ever used metro. The places around Termini is cheaper compared to others. If you are an economy type of tourist then don\\\'t hesitate to stay around Termini.
An important advice : Visit the fountain of Trevi at least twice, one during sunshine and one during moonlight...
