An Ren I was fascinated by your descriptions of AnRen. My oldest daughter was born in AnRen in 1996 and adopted from Chenzhou in 1997. She is now 18 and at some point we would like to return to visit her place of birth.
My beautiful Alma mater and a very kind teacher ooh, i am so exciting to read this wonderful blog, as if i'm back to my hometown, and seen people there.
Moving to Anren... Hi Dani. As this was written in 2007, I have no idea if you will receive this! I am taking a job teaching and moving to Anren in August. I am an international teacher, so I am used to the struggles and wonderful experiences that come with living in a new place. However, I have never been to China!
If you ever receive this, please let me know if it's possible to email each other and maybe I could ask you some questions about your experience? Thanks for posting this!

loved your blog Just got back from China. I married a woman from Nanning while there. Her family took us on a cross country adventure we knew not where - we were told about falls and that they were huge. We didnt' realize we would travel all the way to the vietnam border. It was a beautiful site.
the Chinese people are wonderful. Always friendly and never felt a hint of discrimination. it was the trip of a lifetime and I'm going to double it in April again, since it will be a while before my wife can join me in Canada.
China Chinese cities look futuristic at first glance, but when you
find out China doesn’t even have simple things like laundromats, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, or
measuring spoons you realize what a boring, 3rd world dump it is. Webpages are blocked, counterfeiting is rampant, product quality is a joke, traffic is dangerous, and parents in China allow kids to pee and poop on the floor of stores, too. I lived in a small Chinese city of 10 million that did not have one church, house, airport, or college.
Detian Falls and south China Very much enjoyed your commentary on the trip to Nanning and Detian Falls. I have been to Guilin and many of the other scenic areas in China and this area is high on my list of places left to visit.
How much time would say was needed to see the area well - fly into Nanning and do a tour such as you had?
The photos call up memories of the good old days. A chinese family in a small rural town is always expecting good news from you. wish you happy on the side of the earth.
Detian Falls Transportation Hi Dan,
I don't know if you will still be reading this. But if you do, I hope you can provide me with some information that I need in planning my China trip this coming summer.
I know there's a early morning bus that goes from Nanning to Detian Falls everyday. However, I wish to get back to Nanning on the same day. Do you know if there is any bus that go to Nanning in the afternoon? I am trying to catch a train from Nanning to Kunming that leaves at 9pm. Is that possible?
Please kindly reply to nicholastjs@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Nicholas
