Outlaw's thoughts Great story....as always. Good to see the pictures of the people you were telling us about before we arrived.....we await the next installment.....The Dangerous One
Tajikistan Travelling in the ex Soviet Union republics is on my list. I love those places and the ambiance in them.I was about to go to Tajikistan when I was in Xinjiang.
Lovely people there.another interesting blog Dave..
Tajikistan How lucky are you that you are "The Traveller", Marcos. Pity you did not quite reach Tajikistan but it will be no surprise when you get here. In the meantime travel vicariously with me and enjoy the ride. The landscapes and people are stunning.
Oi Oi Oi So Dave, my favorite parts of this blog was EVERYTHING frigging thing! I love foreign films and I feel I just watched one! Life at home is boring now. Summer is over, put up the Halloween decorations for the kids, took them down (grumble grumble) and came in from the cold, poured a bevvie, and thought to log on to Travel Blog to see what mischief you were up to and there you were. Words that stuck with me are the following: Chatted to her for two hours...like wandering high in the Pamirs...while in my chair on a magic carpet ride...Travel is wonderful...the people we meet. (Well said Dancing Dave...well said. Cheers to you & Denise!) Keep on rockin'!
Oi Oi Oi Always a delight to receive a comment from you Sal. Even though Armenia was after this part of the trip I blogged Armenia first for reasons set out then. But now I can proceed with a bit of savour and relive the Tajikistan ride and the stunning scenery to come. But will I be discrete? Who knows!!!
A great story of a less traveled world Thanks Tab. The highs and lows of our roadtrip along the northern border of Afghanistan is about to start. Thanks for following the ride.
Must read :-D Come home at 1 am after cinema with co workers, plan to hit the bed right away but find a new post from you, no sleep yet. Excellent as always, definitely worth not going to sleep for! Very fun to see the Travel Camel again, haven't seen any updates from him for a long time, good to know he's still in the thick of it. Dancers, camels and dangerously merry people all rolled up into one trip, impossible to not look forward to the next part!
Must read :-D I guess I've given it away that there are some super shots coming Per-Olof. I've gotta say I'm excited also. I'm so busy catching up on my work after a month away I have so little time...but hey..."the harder I work the better the holiday" I say....while considering the amount of travel you do I think your motto is "less work and more play." Watch this space!
Tea and silk Glad you checked this out Jools. By the way congratulations on your further exquisite doll conquest of the USA...not surprising when one sees your work. The dress of the second bride in my pics was also awesome. Silk anyone?
Beautiful indeed They are beautiful for sure. Dave, you have guts to take their pics, I don't!! Well, unless it was your guts, we couldn't see these beautiful ladies from Armenia, isn't it? Didn't know Kim from Armenia, never bothered to find out, ...Kim who? But I have a weakness towards fridge magnets for no apparent reasons...sorry MJ. And rugs too, Dave. I am not surprised you picked up two, I would have probably picked up four. Thank you for the lovely article, Dave!
Beautiful indeed Can't complain I guess Tab. I captured the essence of Armenia with my previous blogs of the genocide and monasteries & khachkars I don't usually have reticence asking for portraits but I'll get over it. That I didn't get more rugs...takes longer to heal from that!!!
Bling, bling, bling This looks grand on Denise. You should post a photo of it on her hand on FB along with all the other purchases we made together. I'll bet she could get a job as a hand model. She has beautiful fingers. :)
Bling, bling, bling I posted a pic of my trinket personal purchases at the end of the blog. However pics of rings can be taken out of context. Some may view as a sign of opulence which avoids that we scored them for ridiculously low prices that we could not get in our home countries. The pic of the funky malachite ring does not show the flashes of light off its chunky crystals...but as it was US$40...I'd return for a second one!
Armenia worth a second trip You can always go back and enjoy a few days of photographing those lovely high cheek boned women. I was there and saw you were mesmerized by the beauty... the camera couldn't work because you were enjoying the loveliness with your eyes. Sometimes you must just enjoy what you are seeing. Armenia is a great place to be seduced and captivated. Your new rugs are grand! I will say I can be lured by pretty shiny objects but let's confess that Denise and I are a good team and can find our way around jewelry marts around the world. This has been proven. Watch out or Denise and I will begin planning which country has the best gemstones for our next shopping spree.
My wife Denise & I like to travel "on paths less travelled" that capture our imagination, inspire my photography & where we mix with locals & remain safe.
