Anyeong-Haseyo: Are you at peace?
About the blog: This is to keep friends, family and those curious updated on the daily happenings of life in Korea.
About Me: The fall of 2009 I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelors of Arts in International Studies: with a focus on Latin America and a minor in Spanish. At this time back home Oregon had the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the United States, not only that they had recently cut my hours nearly in half at work, which would not pay rent. I had to move in with the folks again for the first time in five years. I love my family and friends and living at home has its benefits, but I am a little restless tied down, I can not stay in one spot for too long. With mounting student loans at my heels, no steady employment at home, Korea seemed like a good escape. I’d wanted to teach in Korea of some time as I had heard numerous success stories from friends who had been abroad. I pursued a few options having interviews for early childhood education, but I finally settled on a middle school in the Jeollonamado province of South Korea.
