Settling in at Langdale has been made relatively easy by Mr.Patell, our Indian landlord. Mr.P as we’ve dubbed him, also owns the local corner store, which conveniently has a liquor license. We are quickly becoming his best clients. He promises to bring around a curry and in return we will cook him a traditional Aussie barbeque. On January 3rd 2006 my working year started, awfully premature when compared to every other teacher back downunder. A bearable 23 hour flight which thankfully saw the five of us - Pete, Cossie, Azz, Emmo and myself treated to the comfort of emergency-exit seat living came to an end as we touched down at Heathrow airport, a nation where I would spend the best part of the next 12 months.
