CAROLYN ACORD AND SISTERS

DESERTSISTER

Hi therer! Just recently retired from the business world and answering to others, It's my time to fly away and enjoy what life and our country has to offer. Now, my two older sisters and I are planning a road trip to cover 5-6 states. Beginning September 26th 2011, we will travel by SUV to Branson, Missouri. We will attempt to tent camp wherever possible. There are so many beautiful state parks in the United States, that we will have a hard time finding just the perfect spot to rest our weary bones for the night, before heading out again each morning. This is an adventure for the three of us... find out "Who's The Boss" as we begin our journey.

What a trip! Carolyn's home and Pat and Ginger still have one more day of travel to reach their homes (8 hr). We missed the Albuquerqe Balloon Festival due to the rainy weather. We were able to see the sights along the way from Okalhoma, New Mexico, to Arizona. Our last hotel stay was in Verde, Arizona where we had a beautiful hotel stay WITH A CASINO right next door via shuttle! We made our money back from the night before..Whew! Drove from Arizona back to Palm Desert. Safe and Sound! You must try this trip or one similar with your older siblings..It might be the last chance to be together. We are so thankful and love each other dearly. Once and a lifetime trip for us three sisters. Thanks for the memories!! ... read more

Hi Again. You won't believe this..we are sniffing out every casino there is! The drive is boring through Oklahoma to Texas, as there is so much wide open space between pit stops. The traffic is incredibly great! 75 mph most of the way! We finally landed in Amarillo, Tx for the night. Great Hotel; the rate only $33.00/night. The Camelot Inn.. it even looks like a castle. Nice suites, so we are comfortable for the night with breakfast on the house in the AM. We are staying in separate rooms, so we can get along in the morning! Will head for Albuquerque tomorrow. Still paying about $3.29 a gallon for gas.... read more

Hi again! Leaving Branson, MO and heading for home in Palm Desert, Ca. Only got to El Reno, Oklahoma (a small suburb of Oklahoma City). Didn't get too far as Ginger and Pat saw a "Quilt and Material" store along the way. A few miles down the road a "Casino" was calling out to us. Didn't do to bad, but nothing big to brag about. In El Reno, we had the best Mexican Dinner ever. If your ever in El Reno, just ask the locals about it! GREAT! We decided to "crash" for the night and start out early and proceed to Amarillo, Texas. See you soon!... read more

Yeah! We reached our final destination. WOW! What a trip!. If I spell or don't use the right "punkcuation"..blame the after driving libations!! There is so much to see and do in this area, we decided to spend another day here! Needless to say, we forfeited a couple of cabin stay fees..but who cares?, we are on vacation. If you visit this area you must go on the "Ducky" ride, lots of history and a ride on the beautiful Table Rock Lake in an amphitamin? (truck that drives on roads & floats in water??). You must also visit the "Fantastic Caverns". Ride a trolley through underground caves that are unbelieveably beautiful. We will leave tomorrow (Saturday, I think) heading for Tulsa, OK. Talk to you soon!... read more

Driving, Driving Driving. Have decided to take it easy for a couple of days and do some more site seeing. Stayed another night in a KOA camp site(in a cute little cabin) in Clinton, Oklahoma. Got in late and found out the nearest bathroom facility was closed for the season! Yikes, what do we do now?? Thank heavens for forsight and we brought our own porta-potty! Did get to the main showers and bath facilities in the morning. Met some really nice people and had a good nights sleep. Will be off early am for our Final destination of Branson, Missouri. Still having fun, but the driving is getting old! The toll roads were heavenly with very light traffic..great for traveling. Ooh..almost forgot what cheap gasoline prices were. We are now paying about $3.30 cents a ... read more
