Love following travellers blogs and looking forward to filling mine up in the not too distant future. For now just a few short trips here and there before picking up the backpack and scratching these itchy feet of mine :-)

Debbs and I landed at Varna airport where we were met and accompanied to our little rental apartment in town. Mouths open with surprise. We had landed with little or near enough no expectations and were not at all ready for what we found. What a country! What people! What gorgeous scenery, deliciously tasty food, beautiful coastline, amazingly gorgeous capital... I could just go on praising Bulgaria for hours. I absolutely loved what we saw in the few days we were there. It was a strange experience really, a little like going back in time. Being in Andorra (or Spain even) 20 years ago. When you could park anywhere, no ticket machines or traffic wardens, when you pull up at a petrol station and a smiley attendant fills your tank and washes your windscreen... When there ... read more

A well over-due update! Canada? Nope... Not for now anyway. I'm living in Bath and renting an apartment, to most of you - and to my own surprise - I must admit that I am actually starting to enjoy my time in England for the first time ever!! The way it all happened was quite strange - the Universe was playing at something so I decided to change my plans and take a shot at playing the cards i had just been dealt... Y not?!? A few lovely visits from some great friends and extra time with the family are just what the doctor ordered. I'm making the most of my time here getting to know this country (which embarrassingly I must admit as an english person, it's amazing how little I do know about it ... read more

NOTE: THIS TOUR WAS A RECCE FOR MOTOAVENTURES WHO WILL BE OFFERING THE CAPETOWN TO ZANZIBAR AS OF JUNE 2007, FOR MORE INFORMATION: WWW.MOTOAVENTURES.COM 21 days, 8 244 kms, 5 countries and millions of pot holes later - Tom nearly missed one! We got in to Dar in great time after a quick stop in Morogoro, where Nina (Jens’s mum) was born, to find the city of Dar Es Salaam, a huge bustling city with busy people all over the place. We knew then that the tour was over, it was time to celebrate our safe arrival from the wild and cold Atlantic Ocean to the beautiful peaceful Indian Ocean. It didn’t actually sink in until Tommy left yesterday morning for Zanzibar to meet his family. That’s it for now, all the great memories are now ... read more

Hi everyone! Thanks for all you messages! At last an internet spot to update the blog. Day 10, our first day off, not only have we caught up with our 3 days but we're now a day ahead! It's been hard riding all the way! On average 500 kms per day (they were pulling my leg (which they do alot of) when they said 1.000!!) at 110 kms/hr. Longestt dayy waas 577kms. The first week was freezing all along the coast until Northern Namibia where we turned East n the layers started peeling off (7 in some cases!!). On the wildlife side so far we've spotted loads of ostrich (one of which was suicidal n tried to attack johnny moroc n coronel mustard (dad) but they managed to escape in one piece), springbok, warthogs, oryx, baboons, ... read more

Bikes are free and the boys are working on them as I type, later on we're packing and loading our "best friends to be for the next 4 weeks", and at the crack of dawn.... vroom vroom!! We're starting 3 days late, but we're racing the first few days and should be back on track with the original schedule by day 4 - may god be with us! About 1.000kms a day... (sore bottoms...) Tomorrow we head North through Namaqualand - one of the 7 flower wonders of the world, apparently it's the best season in the last decade due to the early rains, will get some good pics and hopefully will be updating the blog in the next week, aiming to at least once a week... On one side yes, a great start... We've had an extra few days in CT as the bikes are taking till tuesday or wednesday to clear custom's... Capetown is spectacular! Clean, tidy and orderly and the locals are so couteous - a shock to anyone who's lived in spain/andorra. A must is a climb up Table mountain. The cable car is having it's anual service so we decided to climb. A very hard climb indeed, but the most amazing trek ever. It took us 5,5 hrs, we started one side, got a little "detoured" at the top and climbed down the other. The views from the top are breath taking. And the scenery we were taken through along our route was so varied. A little sore today to say the least though. We took a drive ... read more

Whilst my feet scream for some itching, it occurred to me that it was about time Nala had her own travelblog, after all she is pretty well travelled! For those of you who don't know Nala, she is blond with blue eyes, approx. 9 years old and we have been together for over 6 years. She is fantastic company and a great travelbuddy. Nala has settled well into Bath life, and whilst her base is at Perfect View (with mum), she often has a sleep over at mine and we go out together most days. Nala must be one of the best-travelled furry four legged friends around, and boy does she have some stories to tell! At the end of summer 04, the first time we left Andorra for good (cos we do this quite a ... read more
