Hello Dave, Wow that was some experience you had in the airport. When I first started reading it I thought deja vu but I agree some part of your brain was accessed. I'll have Jim read this. He'll appreciate the S.Africa yerba mate story. Good luck and hope you meet up with Theresa safe. Sherry and family

We're looking forward to your Antarctica blogs...
if you find any TB spammers there, and there is a lot of spam originating there, tell them to stop spamming our site! They will likely speak Turkish. Anyway, Linda is trying to talk me into driving north as far as we can...Inuvik in the far north of Northwest Territories...north of Dawson. Have you ever made that trip, and if so what advice do you have to offer?

Hello Dave, Great to hear from you. It sounds like quite the adventure you are having both physically and cerebrally! Lay off the yerba mate! :) Looking forward to your next installment....I am in Burlington for the holidays and the main activity here seems to be shoveling snow! Talk to you soon. HM

Because it smells like cat food!
Believe it or not I have actually tried cat food! Both the dry stuff and the wet stuff - neither are appetizing. Thanks for your comments!

Wonderful to see you blogging again!
Your summer sounds delightful. I'd forgotten that you get belugas in the bay. What an amazing experience. We are wishing you a season of bears. The two nosing around your house look comfortable with town life. Hide the moose! The September sky is lovely. Longing to see both the bears and dancing sky. You live in a very special place. Stay safe and keep those blogs coming.

Dave, You have to try it deep fried, it\'s fantastic! Take a small peice, about 3 x 3 inch, score it deeply and cook like french fries. BE WARNED. You might like it so much that you may over indulge, you will look like a cooked lobster as the rich blubber is high in vitamin D Great shots! Love it love it!

Amazing place you've chosen to live
The weather is a bit unpleasant for us long term but you've had experiences others can only dream off. Simply amazing. Riding with Starman Roger must have been stunning. Have you had many polar bears this season? A few years back I worked in Antarctica for 5 months and it was cold but much easier to tolerate than expected. With that said I only did it for one season. I much prefer beaches and palm trees. Each year you travel to warm climates to thaw out....where will you go this year?
22nd March 2013

Beaches and Palms
We do have a preference for hot sunny places too. However, the Arctic is home for now and we both have seasonal jobs with very flexible hours so we can both take 4 - 5 months off every year! Great for traveling - but we have no plans for our next trip as of yet - just ten thousand ideas... There have been a few bears in the area during the last month, all of the mothers and cubs have just left their dens and headed onto the sea ice... Last "Bear Season" oct - nov was crazy for bears - they were everywhere!
