Andy and I arrived in Madrid on June 18th. Sharon had gone ahead the day before to our apartment on Calle de la Cabeza near Tirso de Molina. It's a middle class neighborhood a few blocks away from the Plaza del Sol in Madrid. The apartment was a fun indoctrination into the compact life of urban, European living. We had everything we needed, just on a much smaller scale. Outside of our apartment was a small park, where the youth in the neighborhood congregated each night until about 2 am. With a double-digit unemployment rate in Madrid, there was always someone hanging out in that park. It could get quite loud in the evenings. We did the typical tourist thing and saw the major sites in Madrid. I enjoyed the Museo Naval and the Palace Real.
