What I have learned from your last two blogs! Clay and Ann,
What I have learned from your last two blogs, is how appreciative I am for my bathroom facilities, and for privacy!!!!!! :) Wow!
Hey Fatima!!! We are so happy that you could join us on our blog! If we can help you with your studies in any way, please let us know. You may use our regular email address to contact us directly... clayandann@gmail.com Thanks again for saying hello!
Was just talking with Sharon Johnson about you guys yesterday and am now officially one of your followers (not in a religious sense, of course, so no kool-aid for me). Am looking forward to following you on your adventures and continually being amazed by you!
It's a dirty job... but someone has to do it. Ironically, Moroccans find it difficult to pronounce "Clay," so the renamed me Kareem. I suppose that makes me 00-Kareem! LOL!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. You write so well. I feel like I am there! It does look like Italy! Your host family sounds warm, giving, and wonderful. Loved the family pictures! Clay, I love the wardrobe changes!!! I know before you leave, you will be so close to this family. Ann, that was so sweet of mom and sisters to give you the robe. I know how much it must have touched you. The pictures of your home brought back memories of my grandmother's house in Fresno. She highly prized her rugs. The rugs look so familiar. Ann, I cannot wait to hear about your bath house experience. Take care you two! I know you will both do great, and I cannot wait to hear more! Love you guys!
Dear Ann and Clay: the stories and the photos are amazing. You two are my idols as I cannot imagine myself in your journey. Suffice it to say that you two will never be the same! It is hard to believe, sitting here at my office computer, that your life as attorneys in J-Ville is now light years away. Peace and good health in all that you do. Love, Sharon
Lawyer life SJ: In response to your comment, we miss you all, and your "light years" description captures this time perfectly. To all of our prior profession, there is green grass to doing what you know!!
Thank you for the wonderful write-up Great writing, great adventure. Some things slightly familiar from my own travel, some delightfully different. Praying for you and your host family, warmth, friendship, learning, peace.
On the road again! Thoroughly enjoying your adventure, and learning new things at the same time. Cannot begin to imagine what it must be like, to go live in a new place with people you do not know, and not knowing the language. Now that is what I call an adventure!!!!! I don't know, if I could do it, but I am impressed and proud that you can. Things I would like to know in Arabic are: I love you, Good morning, hello, cat, dog, book, peace, goodbye, hot, cold, mother, father, children, teenager, happy, and movie. I will probably think of more, but I don't want to give you overload!!!!! You have enough to do and learn!!! Enjoy your time there, and soak it all up. I cannot wait to hear more!
Words? Baba = father
Mama = mother
Hello -- no real equivalent, use salam (peace)
phoentic beh-nat is daughters, cah-moon is cumin, mill-Ha is salt, one is wah-head, ten is ahsh-rah.
Husband, you just say "my man" (ah-na rah-jull)
Most words are just consonant sounds strung together so writing phonetics is very challenging.
Hi guys!!! Love staying in touch via photos and blog. Feels like I am there with you but I'm here with a toilet and toilet paper!!! Is it cold there? It looks like everyone is dressed warmly. Miss you both.
Exciting! It is so exciting watching you guys go through this process. I know you love learning new things, and have no doubt that you will master the language and culture in no time! I also have no doubt of your capabilities to capture a young audience, especially Clay. Yes, do keep calm and carry on, everything will fall into place in due time. Miss you much!

Making our long-time dream of foreign service become a reality, we sold our house and cars, closed our law practice and said a loving goodbye to family and friends. We began our trek with the Peace Corps in January 2013, in the Kingdom of Morocco, with enthusiasm and honor. For those of you who follow along, we will do our best to help you experience our new adventure with us.
