We've just realised it's been 2 months since we last updated our travelblog! Shocking - sorry folks! It's June 21st and a few memorable things spring to mind....... A couple of weeks ago, Ricky, unbeknown to me, signed us up for a 10K which is tomorrow morning. I can't exactly say I'm looking forward to it considering my training has consisted of a 5K run for the first in about 2 years last Saturday. Great! Ricky’s mum and dad, Helen and Charlie, popped over to spend an exciting, action packed 3 weeks with us. They put us to shame in the [View Full Entry]

Aussie Grand Prix What a day for it - 37 degrees and bright sunshine (apparently the track was 50 degrees!) - lovin it!! We decided we couldn't be bothered actually going to the race, but sat on the balcony and soaked the atmosphere up (the noise was incredible!) - watched the airshows and had it on the TV! Some pics of the afternoons events... [View Full Entry]

Our tropical island retreat - the perfect day to spend labour day weekend Not that either of us really knows what Labour Day weekend is all about, other than everyone gets a Monday off work. But we do know that its a Victoria thing, presumably designed to reward people that work hard - and we both do so, as far as we were concerned, it was designed for people like us to get off to remote desert islands. So get off to a remote desert weekend we did. We booked some cheap flights from Melbourne up to Mackay in Queensland on [View Full Entry]

Welcome to March!! Not long after Kellie and Ryan got here, they texted me one night to ask if we wanted to go and see Rod Stewart with them. Ricky wasn't keen and the tickets were a bit expensive as I wasn't working at the time. So they got tickets, and Caroline and Tucker got tickets, then another couple from England we are friend's with got tickets. Great! So, a couple of weeks ago I thought I would look on ebay on the off chance there was a ticket going...and there was!! I was well excited, although a little worried about [View Full Entry]

Port Philip Bay Claire is lying on the couch watchin some stupid film - so I figure its time for a blog and we've got loads of sunny summer pictures to shove on! We caught another film at the moonlight cinema on the 16th - The Darjeeling Limited. I have never been so bored in my life, it was possibly as bad as the film Claire is watching in the background just now, but at least it was a nice hot night - and we had a picnic blanket to fall asleep on after a bottle of wine. We'd intended having [View Full Entry]

We were invited to a Charity Ball for Breast Cancer through Ricky's work, so we put on our glad rags for the night and donated generously. This is just a quick blog so I can upload some of the photos that we took on the night. It was a good night with all Ricky's work mates and despite the band being awful, the drink was flowing and there were plenty of games to keep us entertained!! There was all the usual stuff - a silent auction, raffles, quizzes etc. But more interestingly, there was a game where you paid $20 for [View Full Entry]

In the summer there are lots of festivals and stuff on, half of which I bet we would never ever know about!! St Kilda Festival is about the biggest I think - all the streets are closed near the beach, there are food stalls, markets, rides, alcohol breath testing (!!) and a massive wakeboard competition. We were a little tired from the Charity Ball on the Fri so we never headed down to St Kilda until about 3pm, but it was all still happening. We took a stroll along Fitzroy St and at this time everywhere was absolutely mobbed - loud [View Full Entry]

February is Melbourne Bank Holiday galore!! It also marks the end of the summer too unfortunately. Summer here has been a blast with the long hot days, nearby beaches, sitting outside all night having some food and wine - amazing! Also in summer, there are lots of free activities to partake in, like orchestras in the Botanical Gardens, concerts in Fed Square, outdoor cinema and trapeze lessons. Yeah, you heard me, TRAPEZE lessons!! It was all set up in the city square and I had noticed it was there over the previous couple of weeks, but never thought that it was [View Full Entry]
