Hello everyone!!! I am so excited that the travelblog is officially back on! I have realised that after writing the title of this blog that it was high time to tell the good people far and near to us what we have been up to in our Aussie Adventures since the winter. I have got loads of stories, memories, photos and experiences to share with you all and I am eager to get them on "paper". At the moment I'm in work waiting on a phone call from a plumber that is coming to fix our cracked cistern! Then I am heading out with Anita and Kate for a girlie night on the town! It's about 29 degrees today but the nights are getting cool and weather been generally variable. I hope you stay posted with ... read more

June 21st 2008

We've just realised it's been 2 months since we last updated our travelblog! Shocking - sorry folks! It's June 21st and a few memorable things spring to mind....... A couple of weeks ago, Ricky, unbeknown to me, signed us up for a 10K which is tomorrow morning. I can't exactly say I'm looking forward to it considering my training has consisted of a 5K run for the first in about 2 years last Saturday. Great! Ricky’s mum and dad, Helen and Charlie, popped over to spend an exciting, action packed 3 weeks with us. They put us to shame in the travelling AND drinking stakes! More on that later! We all went on a trip to Phillip Island, Tasmania and spent lots of time eating and drinking out! We then had Ricky’s bro, Matt staying with ... read more

Aussie Grand Prix What a day for it - 37 degrees and bright sunshine (apparently the track was 50 degrees!) - lovin it!! We decided we couldn't be bothered actually going to the race, but sat on the balcony and soaked the atmosphere up (the noise was incredible!) - watched the airshows and had it on the TV! Some pics of the afternoons events...... read more

Our tropical island retreat - the perfect day to spend labour day weekend Not that either of us really knows what Labour Day weekend is all about, other than everyone gets a Monday off work. But we do know that its a Victoria thing, presumably designed to reward people that work hard - and we both do so, as far as we were concerned, it was designed for people like us to get off to remote desert islands. So get off to a remote desert weekend we did. We booked some cheap flights from Melbourne up to Mackay in Queensland on Tiger airways - well, we thought they were cheap until we realised one group of four people on the flight got all of theirs for less than half what we paid for two. They seemed ... read more

March 1st 2008

Welcome to March!! Not long after Kellie and Ryan got here, they texted me one night to ask if we wanted to go and see Rod Stewart with them. Ricky wasn't keen and the tickets were a bit expensive as I wasn't working at the time. So they got tickets, and Caroline and Tucker got tickets, then another couple from England we are friend's with got tickets. Great! So, a couple of weeks ago I thought I would look on ebay on the off chance there was a ticket going...and there was!! I was well excited, although a little worried about the prospect of being outbid in the last few secs. But I took my chances and I won!! And I only paid $10 more than the original price. Excellent! We have been taking turns to ... read more

Port Philip Bay Claire is lying on the couch watchin some stupid film - so I figure its time for a blog and we've got loads of sunny summer pictures to shove on! We caught another film at the moonlight cinema on the 16th - The Darjeeling Limited. I have never been so bored in my life, it was possibly as bad as the film Claire is watching in the background just now, but at least it was a nice hot night - and we had a picnic blanket to fall asleep on after a bottle of wine. We'd intended having a quiet day about the flat on the Sunday, but given it was such a nice day outside we decided to take a bit of a road trip. We've previously driven down the Mornington Peninsula ... read more

February 16th 2008

We were invited to a Charity Ball for Breast Cancer through Ricky's work, so we put on our glad rags for the night and donated generously. This is just a quick blog so I can upload some of the photos that we took on the night. It was a good night with all Ricky's work mates and despite the band being awful, the drink was flowing and there were plenty of games to keep us entertained!! There was all the usual stuff - a silent auction, raffles, quizzes etc. But more interestingly, there was a game where you paid $20 for a bottle of wine and there were only 50 bottles, however, one of those wines was worth a small fortune. Once all the bottles were sold, someone came round and sat your bottles on the ... read more
