Sailing on the Yangtze River On 29th April, which was Chris’ 62nd birthday, we left from Chengdu and we got an early morning train to Yichang. Same old routine, get a taxi , first ticket check, bag X Ray, second ticket check and wait at the gate for the final ticket check. The train was really busy but the seven hours weren’t too bad and the coffee was okay and we arrived in Yichang. The lovely girl on reception in Chengdu, Chris, had written us a Chinese message with the address for the Ramada. There were no hostels in Yichang and we got a really good deal at the Ramada, room and buffet breakfast for 498 Yuan (£53). When we checked in they upgraded us to a suite and we arranged a late, 2pm, checkout too.
