Bali Bali was Bali, we saw Bali, and everybody knows Bali - so we will make it nice and short.... We sensed the moped was built only for paved roads and although that had long since finished we pressed on through stuff you should really use a dirt bike for. We were inside the crater of the volcano in northern Bali and while not exactly lost but didn’t really know where we were heading. Funnily enough though the road went round in a circle and ended up where it started with only a couple of very sore asses to show for the off road trip. Bugger - Ran up the beach and told a bunch of Balinese kids that there is US100 up for grabs for anyone who finds my sunnies bobbing around in the surf! ... read more

A short blog on the last 20 months of our lives in the Middle East. 10 things we will miss - • Orange juice - for some reason was just bloody fantastic!!!! • The amazing people we meet and the great times we had - many friends made for life... • The endless summer - everyday is a beach day in Dubai (just don’t put your head under the water) • Cheap SUV's, petrol that costs 30c a litre and some truly brilliant 4x4ing • Word class diving - crystal clear warm water and really stunning marine life....all whilst floating around on a dow boat • Shawarma’s - some of the local Lebanese food and they are fantastic! • Some really large grade A shopping malls • Picking fresh dates off the palms on the ... read more

New Delhi & Agra India was everything it’s made out to be and more, a melting pot of culture, religion, color, smells and taste - a literal smorgasbord for the senses. With the extraordinary fusion of so many people, the country becomes something of an experience from start to finish. We have traveled twice to India in the past months; the first was a long weekend trip to New Delhi and Agra, a four day whirlwind trip of the major sites and back to work for Monday morning…the second was a month on the beaches of Goa.... Just off the “Main Bazaar” in New Delhi is where we had an US2.26c a night room for the first few nights. This road consists of dirt covered with people, carts, tok toks and dogs heading in every different ... read more

A 16 hour trip in the bus to Nazca turned into 19 and a bit, but that’s South American time for you, it was fun....Nazca at 8am in the morning it was nice to get off the bus, with 15 people outside the fence yelling at you to come sleep at their hostel/hotel. By 10am we were in a 4 seater plane I was more worried about it getting off the ground at all than crashing, to do a 45min fly over the "Nazca Lines" the one and only thing to do in an otherwise one horse town. The lines were interesting (if you’re into that sort of thing it would probably help a bit more), we got back to the hostel grabbed our bags and we were gone by 12.30pm! A record for us ... read more

We had arrived at La Paz, dirty, smelly bustling city, on an overnight bus from Potosi and while Tanya slept on the couch at the first hostel we came to which was full, Josh and I walked the streets at 5am trying to find one with a staff member awake enough to understand we were after a room for a few nights. 2 hours later we gave up and also fell asleep waiting for some more intelligent staff to arrive at work for the day. La Paz was sweet, nice to be back in a big city, albeit rather smelly noisy one at that. A few more of the gang we had been hanging out with began to drift into town over the next few days and we started to frequent one particular English pub ... read more

Our footsteps Casey and Tanya Arriving in BA, finding our hostel had lost our booking for the first night was a crap start, no great drama though as we were able to find accommodation next door for the night. We had just come in from Iguazu Falls having been able to find a $50 flight each to avoid a 14 hour bus trip, which we were both more than happy about. STEAKS in Argentina......WOW in the first 3 days in BA we had steak 6 times....I thought I had died and gone to heaven, Tanya on the other hand kept telling me that girls can't digest meat as fast as guys can.....and hence her refusal to have it for a 7th time in a row! Well BA was first class, had a humongous group of ... read more

Straight out of Africa on a 11 hour flight we arrived in London into 4c and overcast at 7am in the morning. Caught the tube to Gavin's house in Richmond (one of Casey's mates from years ago who is a legend to let us stay at his house) which was fun as most of London joined us, great entertainment to get off a fully packed peak hour train with fully laiden backpacks. Dropped our stuff, put most of what we owned on to combat the cold and headed vaguely in the direction of the city back on the tube. Got off when we heard some place we recognised and came out of the tube station to be standing there looking at Buckingham Palace....and the 'Changing of the Guard'. Huge crowd numbers for something that happens ... read more

Coffee Bay.......(no coffee....!).....wow picture the most chilled out, laid back, do nothing place you have ever been and Coffee Bay is 10x this. It consists of two hostels down by the mouth of a river, one really, really small shop and about 20 local houses scattered around the area. We stayed at the hostel called "Bomvu", main bar and rooms set up on the top of the hill overlooking the ocean/river and as it sprawls out down the semi-rainforest hill it was just full of hammocks, fireplaces and small spots just to chill out. Weaved inbetween about 20 of these trees is an old fishing trawl net strung up, creating the world's largest hammock you can get away from everyone and just watch the waves roll in. Seven days here of just long aimless walks along ... read more

What a blast! Arrived into Joberg late at night after our 15 hour flight, grabbed a car the next morning suffering from some serious jet lag, and headed north-west to Pilanesberg National Park. Ended up staying at a B+B coz the park was booked out and the owner took us to a Jazz festival, standing there between 5000 odd Africans we were quite a draw card. Fantastic though, the girls with their wicked hair styles can dance. Drove the park the next morning for 6 hours and saw everything except the "cats". Fantastic, had a herd of elephants numbering around 30, cross the road in front and behind us while we were stopped, one cheeky little one even trying to join us in the car. Scary having a 30 year old male elephant standing 5m high ... read more

Started the trip with a quick 2 weeks around oz, started in Bundaberg to catch up with my family (Tanya’s) We started out with a quick massage and a few XXXX Gold beers (as you do). As tradition we headed to Bundy Bowl for a few falling pins.. The next night Bernadette and Tanya (Tanya’s Sister) went to see Man Power whilst the boys hit the local Bundy pubs. The main tour day was full with Tanya’s dad taking us to the Bundy Rum Factory, where we had a taste of molasses and checked out how it all happens. In the afternoon we enjoyed a BBQ with the family and then off to the airport. (One of many more flights to come) Touched down in Alice to dry and hot heat of 42c, where all the ... read more
