Auckland during Christmas is officially dead. My friends have gone back to the states for the holiday period or gone to their family batches (beach homes) I'll be in Auckland for a good part of the holiday period just taking it easy. We prepared the Christmas ham and turkey today. With this being the summer period I BBQ for everyone, yummy burgers and NZ hot dogs (sausage). Graham and George brought over Playstation's Singstar video game and we belted out the classics until the wee hours of Tuesday morning... surprisingly the neighbours have yet to call noies patrol on us. I need to go to bed as it is 1:40 in the morning....just as soon as the Viking/Redskin football game on ESPN is completed. Happy Holidays to Everyone...I wish I could be there to celebrate with ... read more

This coming new year is shaping up to be my time to get more involved with the creative pursuit drama, film and voice work on radio. A couple weeks ago I was invited to audition my voice for some voice over internet work. I didn’t know if I’d hear back from the woman, however I just got this email tonight. Pretty cool. Hope all is well for you all in this holiday season. You may have heard about a large earthquake here in New Zealand. I’m all right as are friends. All my best. "Hi Donavin Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Your voice was great, I will keep you on my books and be in touch when I have some work for you, if any of your contact details change please let me ... read more

With the departure of Jen last week and Sarah's rapidly approaching departure this Wednesday the number of my IEP group is dwindling quickly. I was organizing old emails today and found what I think was the first correspondence I received from Sarah more than a year ago, an invitation to her Halloween Party. From there we’ve seen a number of adventure (or misadventures, depending on who you ask); there was of course a couple Halloween parties, the most recent of which got me in trouble with another friend, the always unforgettable two week trek thru the south island, and etc….. Today, a group of Sarah’s friends took her out to Rangitoto Island for a hike to the summit and small picnic lunch. Despite the forecast for rain and a slight headache from the night before (Sony ... read more

I'm back again this year doing fundraising for men's health. I'll post a photo this weekend, however I thought that I'd get the invitation requesting a small donation out and see what comes back. Thanks again to all those that donated last year. All you have to do is go to: http://www.movember.com/nz/donate Enter my registration number: 191413 And the rest is up to you. Thanks and have a good day...... Hi All, During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I'll be growin a Mo. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because I'm passionate about men's health and the fight against prostate cancer. Why... Every year in New Zealand 2,656 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 600 die of the disease, making prostate cancer the second largest cause of male cancer deaths, after ... read more

Halloween 2007. While Stephanie was away we used the house to throw an epic ghoul party. The party brought to an end many things, but that's only for refrence purpose. My ricky bobby costume was a year old but never worn.... out of date entertainment items don't work well for costumes. The scotts showed up in the same costume from last year... see 2006 photos. Overall a party to remember.... read more

It's been a while since I've had anything of significance to mention here. It was a holiday (Labour Day) weekend so I took Friday off from work and made a long four day weekend in Rotorua. Rachel and I headed out early Friday for the scenic drive (long way around) to Rotorua by way of Mt Maunganui and Tauranga. Friday we did a short tour of the small and relitively uniteresting downtown of Rotorua and met up with friends of Rachel's that were passing thru to Taupo. Saturday was a proper tourist day. Visited one of the better geothermal parks and took the longest walking route available. Asked a tour guide a legitimate question and got a stupid answere. Then off to a sheep farm show that was more comical than informative and then last to ... read more

I'm only making this entry because I heard the funniest thing on the equivalent of your 10pm news. New Zealand news tries hard enough to make itself purposeful, let’s be honest there is just so little news worthy events they’ll do almost anything to fill in 30minutes. Well tonight they hit new low (high) of pointlessness. Picture this: New Zealand anchorwoman, the camera cuts away to a news story decidedly American (American accented male commentator, hick’ish group of guy’s staring up a pine tree at a bear they just tranquilized, debating how to get the bear down. Next scene, said hicks stacking up empty boxes from an alcohol store at the base of the tree, all of a sudden you hear a limb crack, hicks look up and then scatter as the bear cartwheels vertically down ... read more
