I live in Bozeman, MT with my wonderful husband and my giant dog (112 lb. Dane/Lab mix!). I thrive in the outdoors and love to ski, hike, bike, float on the river, or just plain enjoy our beautiful sunsets. We're currently building our own home and that is trip in and of itself. I'm a travler at heart, thanks to being an airline brat growing up and having adventerous parents who thought it was good to show kids the world outside their backyard. I desperately miss my travel benefits (I'm too old and not a 'dependant' anymore so the airline took them away!). But travel is in my future, even if this year it's only to California, not a tropical paradise. It is something I yearn for, a type of learning you can't get from a book or a TV show.

Monday November 20, 2006 was a very good day for us. We closed on our house!!! We had a long, exhausting weekend prior to that celebratory day but it was all worth it! I took half of Thursday and all of Friday prior to closing off work to work on the house. We worked until after dark on Thursday and were up and at it early on Friday but we didn't get it done by the time that the appraiser showed up. However, he saw how hard we were working and so he made us a deal. He took all his measurements and notes and said he would come back Monday morning early and take the pictures he needed to finish the appraisal. But it came with a few stipulations - things we didn't know we

Like the title says both Montana winter and the bankers are looming over our home project now!!! Winter will wait for no one and the bankers are getting pretty antsy aslo. Not to mention the ants that are crawling up both of our pants! Currently our biggest project is getting the siding on. The metal (1st 4 feet of siding) is primarily all on the house. We have a little bit to put on where the front porch will eventually be, but that will come right at the end. We have been staining siding, fir siding, 12" wide boards as of late. We're about halfway done with staining the boards. Once they are done we will hang them all - they are screwed in with at least 11 screws in each board. We have one side

I had a great time in Memphis for the St. Jude Children's research Hospital training. I advise a student group that raises funds for St. Jude and we were privilaged to go to the Collegiate Leadership seminar the first weekend of June. Mom and Dad came and joined me for a day in Memphis, we ate some yummy ribs, drank sweet tea and walked around Memphis, enjoying the sights and sounds. While I didn't get any pictures with Momma and Dadaw (space cadeted those), I got some great ones at the hospital. It's such a wonderful place and such a great cause to fight for. You can

You can see all the things that are coming together. Now all the cabinets are in and we're waiting for the countertops to be delivered so we can install them. Once they're in, we're rolling! The plumbers will come back in and put in the faucets and sinks, etc. and hook up the water and we'll be able to get rid of the "Potty Princess" port-o-let! So, now we're painting ceilings. We've got one more coat on downstairs and it'll be done. Then we can clean the floor and bring the finish concrete guys back in to finish the concrete. And then it will be ready

The floor in the 1st floor is dyed, poured concrete, so it's already done, except for having the concrete pros come back and seal it....which will come when we're done painting down there! So, last week we prepped the subfloor in the great room and the upstairs hallway to lay down the fir flooring. We had to scrape all the dried drywall mud and other gunk that had collected on the subfloor and vaccum it well. This is how dirty/dusty it was - we have a big shop vac and we clogged a filter beyond cleaning, then got a new one, clogged it though we were able to clean it and then clogged it again at the end of installing the flooring.

Duncan as relegated outside so that we don't have any happy puppy tail swipes through the green paint. We spent that rainy morning/early afternoon at the Carpet Mill Outlet, picking out our carpet. We have a super plush neutral in our master, a nice neutral in the 'baked bean' room, and a nice, dark green in the 'chicory' room. They were having a big sale so we got a good deal. We also bought tile for the guest bath. It's really nice - called 'quartzite' so it looks like stone and even has some sparkle to it. The sparkle is definitely what drew me. We're still debating on our Master bath tile but we're getting closer to narrowing it
... read moreThat's been my motto the last week and a half...just about every day we've put at least a coat of paint somewhere on the house. Starting on Saturday, April 15, when we had our "Painting Party". Several of our friends came over to help! (we can't thank them enough!) We got the first coat on several rooms this day. And enjoyed the company of good friends, some good food and plenty of laughs. At the same time as the paint party, Bryan, Mike, Alex and Ernie were putting on the roof. They got the whole thing shingled and now, Bryan just has to put on the vent....now if we can only get a day that's nice and not windy.... Last Friday, April 21, we primed the last wall upstairs and all the walls downstairs. Saturday (4/22)

I don't understand why because I put them in .pdf's so that everyone can see them and I can put comments on them. And everyone should be able to open them, acrobat reader's free. But maybe MSN does some weird encoding as I send them and that's why they don't come through. So, I'm going to try to put house updates and pictures here. It may not be a 'standard trip' but it sure has been a trip, an adventure like I've never experienced before. So, we are at the stage of painting. We have **most** of the upstairs done. All three bedrooms (except the closets) and the guest bath are done. The great room (kitchen, dining, living all
