Oh, the woes of pediculosis I currently am infested with the little blighters and have been by the staff at my school that these things don't exist in China. Funny thing is, I got them here. I have not been exposed to small children as I teach in a senior high school. I believe I got them from someone on the bus as I remember a woman getting very close to me and thinking to myself, "I hope she doesn't have lice". The next thing I knew was that I felt the tell-tale signs. I have 4 kids of my own who are now adults but were once kids, of course. My youngest was subject to months of torture until we finally found out the shampoo the pharmacy was recommending no longer is effective at removing the evil bugs. That was pre-China. Now, I don't know what to do...thinking "flea shampoo" and perhaps listerine. I have tried the mayonnaise, olive oil, blow drying, flat iron and hair dying treatments all to no avail. I am almost at the point of shaving off my long flowing locks...always wanted to try out the bald look. Seriously though, I think a trip to the pet store is in the plans for today...argh!
Lice, Lice, and more Lice Hi Lindsie,
I weep with you over the lice problem. Our Belorussian children had lice and one friend, with very thick dark hair, exploded into hysterics, fearing that she would have to cut her hair.
I hope you are getting lots of R&R in Vietnam.
Love Auntie Linda
just do it! don't cry for mommy, shave your head totally, and keep bold for at least 6 months, it's easy and cool. anyway the hair will grow again.
also make sure just throw away your pillow, towel etc....
LOL! the funniest christmas experience ever. looks like they have no idea what christmas means. maybe they just think its a day for lots of colors that silly white people celebrate
LOL lovely read. makes me thankful "i have my shit together". i would have given you some cash had i seen you wandering aimlessly with messy hair (as i imagined) and red high heels!
Loving It Lindsie,
I just love the way you write. If I was a good writer I would have said it with so many descriptive words and made it all sound funny as you do. You definetly have a talent here and maybe one day it might turn into something with $ signs but until then I will keep reading your blogs and see Bejing and Hong Kong through your wonderful words. I'll keep my fingers crossed regarding your visa. Have fun this summer.

Swimming Sausage You could make a whole TV series based on your adventures. I am sure that Chinese TV would pick it up and run it opposite the world war 2 shows about those dastardly Japanese and the one glorious Chinese soldier who defends the poor downtrodden peasants from various atrocities. Perhaps there was a woman pilot in the Flying Tigers you could play her.
Snow was here but melting fast as temperature rises and rain falls. If you get the chance go the Summer Palace. Amazingly cold. . It was fun watching people skate with their sleds. Best thing about it no crowds.

Love it!!! Hi Lindsie; Just love reading about your adventures in Wonderland and that you take each moment in stride. I am enjoying living in China through you! I spent 3 wks in G.B. and can assure you that adventures don't end by age 25, as long as one is open in mind and spirit life will be ever changing.
Live on.
A. Linda

I'll be the first to comment! Wow! Lindsie! Only you would run into a new friend on the first day and have such amazing adventures! It is so much fun to read your blogs, I can hardly wait for the next one!
Luv you!
Mom
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go...
... You'll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You'll get mixed up
with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life's
a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right... full info
