re: how can i help? There's no website for the orphanage, and no one there speaks English. If you want to volunteer a good place to start would be to contact Care for Life, which is careforlife.org. They arranged the trip we went on.
how can i help? Such stories like these only inspire me even more to help and volunteer my services. I really wish to volunteer in some african baby orphanages this year and was just wondering if there was a specific site for this baby orphanage being described in this blog or if you had any information on how to contact such an orphanage? Would be so grateful for a reply, thank you
The sad truth Unfortunately, it's not even an issue of money. The government over there will approve out-of-country adoptions only under the strictest of conditions, so as a practical matter there are none. And millions of little children grow up in orphanages, until they're 18 and turned out into the streets. Depressing to think about.
breaks my heart I just can't stop crying when I look at these websites and read about the african orphans. I would love to adopt one of them but my husband and I are not rich and can't afford the cost of the adoption. If someone paid for it I would gladly take that baby in and love it as my own. Maybe I'll win the lottery someday. I can't save the world or raise a hundred children but I wish so much that I could at least take one of them in. I won't give up hope and with God there is always hope. I will be praying for all of you children.
Brad (the soft-hearted dad) and Tucker (the handsome 16-year old son) traveled to Beira, Mozambique on July 12-Aug 6, 2008. We went with Care For Life, a nonprofit organization HQed in Gilbert, Arizona. Most of our work was done in orphanages in the Beira area.
There are also some entries from a trip that Brad and Jenny (his beautiful wife) took to Spain and Morocco in October 2008.
