Was up at 5.21 every morning since i got here. Iv come to call it stupid o clock, jet lag really takes its toll on you!! On tuesday we all hoped on a bus to go on our first surfing lesson on this really secluded beach about a half hour from sydney. The bus drivers name was Jai and he was what i always expected the typical australian to be like. He seemed to be constantly stoned but he wasnt-he was just your typical surfer dude! Travling by plane..........very very tiring!!!! We left portlaoise at 11.30am on friday and arrived in sydney at 7am on sunday australia time ( about 10pm saturday at home ). We flew from dublin to heathrow first, took a while to get through security there, was kinda weird because since we were going from london to singapore we were going through the security for people going to that general area ( hong kong, thailand etc ) Everyone was either asian and wearing turbans- i didnt fit it - haha. So flights all booked so its definetly happening now!!! SCARY!! Spent a while looking for flights and ended up getting the best deal on www.edreams.com ! The cheapest flights were €540 with Air Asia from London heathrow ( flights to london €25 with Ryan air to stansted or €50 with Aer lingus to heathrow) but i have read only OK reports about them so we ended up paying €650 each to go with Singapore airlines leaving directly from Dublin! So after a bit of organising and getting all our info together ( Companies to use / use bus tours or rent a camper etc ) we have moved our leaving date closer from Feb 2010 to October 2009. We are aiming to look at the second or third week of october to head off. After some research it turns out that renting a camper van and driving through Eastern Oz works out a few thousand euro cheaper than using oz experience so looks like we will be using a camper instead.
