.. Hi Amy,
I love your blog. I am going out to Africa in March (after traveling South America). In england I run a business working with children, mainstream and special needs, so I really would like to volunteer to work with children.
If you have any advice, contacts (especially real charities who could do with the help) it would be very very welcome.
I'll keep on looking at your blog,
I hope you have a continued fab time!

luv it hey ame....luv baby grace laughin.....so happy you shared. face paint looks great too. i still cant wait to hear about everything in person. here's a funny one for you. Alex had his first bbal game tonight with rec league. only two practices. i was only able to stop in for a bit...but noticed he was very into the defense....doing a great job. but...he was also looking for his man when his team was playing offense...i assumed he just didn't get it, he was nervous for the first game and stuff.... When i was asking him abou it after the game and trying to explain to him the difference, he imformed me the reason he was doing that was cause he was the "GUARD" ....lol...God, I love that kid...
Hearing u laugh!!! Watching that video was awesome but hearing the sound of your voice laughing was music to my ears...I miss u soooo much honey and can't wait to hear all ur stories...I wonder how many bottles of wine we will go through listening to them LOL!!!!
wonderful Hi Amy! I've been following your travels through your blogs while you've been away and it sounds really amazing. I think sponsoring baby Grace is going to be as rewarding for you as it will be helpful for her. It's inspiring to know that you'll be changing her life and she doesn't even know it yet.
Hope you have fun with the rest of your travels and I'll see you back in NYC soon!
Writing from your room,
V.
Amy, It’s clearly taken me some time to comment (feels strangely public) but don’t be deceived I have been staunchly following your blog. It makes me very happy when I open my inbox in the morning and find a travel blog message!
I’ve missed you and am (selfishly) glad you’re coming home. Sounds like your experience has been amazing (except the sick part although surly part of the experience). I’m already looking forward to hanging out, making dinner (maybe eating thanksgiving leftovers), and looking through all your pictures. I’m taking a test on Monday and will have an extra celebratory beer on your behalf. Enjoy the beach time! (were all bundled up here in NY). See you soon!
more love from home glad to hear that you are now teaching and it sounds like you have adapted quite well to the vermin too, lol. Grammie can't stop talking about getting a call all the way from Africa, you really made her day! we're counting the days until your safe return and please know that I have not cried nearly as much this time as the last trip over that way...love ya lots!!!

Oh my goodness...all the material you will have for your future stories! I'm so so happy you're getting to do thislittle angels!! How many will you be bringing home ;)?
Yes Lisa, getting peed on is pretty much a daily occurrence during playgroup. I have about 10 kids, ages 18months to 4 years and it's become more potty training time than any sort of preschool training. At first I was constantly appalled at how filthy I get by the end of everyday, or how brown the water is when I literally wash my hands every half hour or more, but as with the spiders and constant runny noses I wipe, this is life in africa. Hakuna matata.
Thank You Thank you for sharing the great pictures and information about the animals. We have learned a lot from you. Our favorite picture was the one of the Hyena. We though he was cute!
