Neverending Journey

 Africa » Botswana » North-West » Maun
Hi Everyone! Forgive me for writing this now I'm home, but internet in the African countryside is hard to come by. Right, longest journey ever! 11hours on a plane to Johanesburg and then 2 full days driving through South Africa and Botswana. We stopped in Palapye on our first night and were supposed to camp, but due to it being dark and none of us knowing how to put the tents up we all bunked on the floor in one room. A superb way to get to know everyone! We had a traditional African Braai (bbq) with delicious Botswana sausages. They [View Full Entry]

Howdy! Our journey began the next morning from the campsite with a 1.5 hour drive to the water's edge of the Okavango Delta. We went through tiny towns with huts that looked like bus stops for phone shops and hair dressers. Everyone waves.....which I love! Mokoro boats with our rowers were waiting at the water's edge for us. I was such a relaxing and amazing experience! We just lay back in our Mokoro and were 'poled' through the reeds, occasionally stopping to watch an elephant in the distance. The water had big fat water lillies in. Some of the reeds had [View Full Entry]

Hi Guys Well I'm finally home back in raining England. We finished up in Washington DC. We saw the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, The White House, Capitol Hall, The Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights and went shopping in Georgetown. We were also lucky enough to be staying over the road from the Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium. So we caught a game there where the Nationals lost 2-0 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Oh well! The hotdogs and chips were a treat! :o) I now have one month until I hit Africa so stayed tuned, as this isn't the end! [View Full Entry]

Visiting Mr Bush
Baseball - Washington Nationals

Hi Guys Well we were lucky enough to be in Atlanta for the 4th July fireworks at Centennial Park. AND we were lucky enough to meet a great bunch of guys and girls who spent the entire weekend showing us around and taking us out! What luxury! They took us to an expensive shopping mall to try on Gucci clothes and $30,000 watches then took us out to dinner, aquarium and the Westin Revolving Tower for a 360 view of the city. How lovely jubbly! We're now in DC for our last couple of days, so see you very soon! Love [View Full Entry]

Trying on hats with the Atlanta Boys

Hi Kids I'm now in North Carolina. We're staying at the best hostel I've stayed in the States. Free internet, porch, hot tub, good weather and a bar over the road. Perfect! I went white water rafting today on the french broad river in Madison County. It was awesome! Went over Grade 1,2 & 3 rapids. Also hopped out a few times for a swim when the rapids lessened and did some diving......ok, hurling myself off some cliffs into the river. Nashville was a bit of a bust. Nothing there other than Jack Daniels, so it's been nice to chill in [View Full Entry]

Howdy! Right guys, we've travelled through Mississippi, Tennesse and we're staying in Arkansas. All by our new hire car and guided by our sat nav called Jackie. We went to Graceland today which far exceeded my expectations. We also went to Sun Studios which was so atmospheric. Really great to learn about the history of the records and how people like Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash made it big. Driving to Nashville tomorrow. Going to go hold my stomach after yet another nauseating plate of american food. See you all in a couple of weeks! Love Bex [View Full Entry]

Visiting Johnny Cash

Hi Guys I've just come out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Had a great time! Went on a steam boat on the Mississippi. Held a snake. Played in a band on Bourbon Street. Drank grenades. Got chatted up by sexy american biker boys. Bourbon Street is amazing. It's like a cross between amsterdam and watford. Haven't made it sound great, but trust me, it was brilliant! Just to let you all know, I'm coming home early on July 11th. Will be having drinks at the Papermill from 8pm on July 12th. All are welcome. I'm now in Arkansas having driven through Tennesse. Slippery Situations!
Hand Grenades on Bourbon Street

Hi Kids I've finally left Oz after nearly 2 months of being there. After Alice Springs I made a small and potentially regrettable trip back to Melbourne. But now I'm in the U S of A! I'm in San Fran. Have met up with my old pal Kirsty and 2 of her mates who live round the corner from my mum in Cheltenham (what a teeny, tiny world!). So far we've been shopping (i have only warm clothes....still), seen Lombard Street (the weavy, windy one), Pier 39, Alcatraz (which I keep getting confused with Azkaban from Harry Potter - hence my [View Full Entry]

Yosemite

Hi Guys I've just had probably one of the best experiences of my life so far. I did a 3 day camp out in the outback. This included hiking through Kings Canyon, the Olgas and around the whole of Ayers Rock. Also ate Camel (not a whole one) a witchity grub (tasted like off egg). I also slept under the stars in a swag bag (a bit like a body bag). No toilets, no showers, just us and the elements. Extreme weather of boiling hot and freezing cold. I was in a group of 20 people and made some great friends. [View Full Entry]

Hi Folks Have had awesome time in Perth. Went to a brewery called Little Creatures which was good. Have been to Fremantle and Cotteslowe Beach which was beautiful! Sadly, we went out in Northbridge one night and my buddy Jesse was hit by a car. But he lived to tell the tale. Jesse vs. Car. Jesse wins! Have been on beautiful walks by the Swan River. Have also stayed in my buddy Scott's garage. Thanks dude! He has Foxtel TV - hurrah! Hope you're all well Love Bex [View Full Entry]
