Looks great guys. You're sucking the marrow out of life, as Dom would say! Hope you're still enjoying it. I'm coming home next Wednesday, doesn't time fly. Looking forward to catching up whenever you're home. Lots of love, Gxx
Mt Kinabalu Wow. What can I say? For once, I'm glad I wasn't with you!! I get to see the wonderful views without the pain!! Congratulations to you both for ascending and descending Mt Kinabalu. I bet you're really glad you didn't have to carry your dinners too!
Who's who? The strange aquatic creature is a type of Sea Cucumber called a Curryfish, the pic I took is a Lizard fish, called so because their teeth show on the outside when their mouth is closed like a dinosaur, the sea flower is a Featherstar, if you look inside you may find symbiotic Clingfish or under the feet you can usually find Elegant Squat Lobsters (a real photo challenge!). The shark was a White-Tip at Fantasia, my favourite dive site! Thanks for the great dives and keep the photos coming.
Whoops Must have missed the publication of this first Tongan (?) blog! so have looked at both together. It looks like an amazing country! Fancy you finding your way to Mass on NY Eve! Good on you. Sadly, we didn't have a band playing afterwards though.
Whoops, you obviously need to check the tides before going out walking in future!
Hope the tuna was tasty!
Dad saw the Queen of Tonga riding by in her carriage when he went to London to take his Institute of Civil Engineers exam.
Happiness It looks as if you had the recipe for much happiness here! including bike riding! The beaches look fabulous, all the more so for being deserted. (But I'm intrigued to know what befell the couple who lost their bags)
The photos of underwater creatures are amazing, not like any I've seen before.
Keep them coming please!
Treacherous coast and cliffhangers Sounds like lots of people never made it back from that coastline... Did you have a tour guide with a morbid obsession? I love the photo of the blow-holes so I can see why people are tempted like the men of Odyseus to the siren-temptation of rugged beauty. Hopefully you two will make it back safely to Blighty's fair shores in the near future. Did you know that a King of Tonga opened Dovestone's Reservoir in Saddleworth? I've got no idea why. Maybe you could ask him and tell us in your next blog...
Dovestone's Reservoir That is a truly weird fact. I don't think he learned anything from it. There are no rivers of reservoirs, to our knowledge, in Tonga.
Our guide had an obsession with churches. He is a Catholic, so he probably had a bit of a death obsession too.
NZ It looks absolutely beautiful. Such a variety of scenery. Once again, fabulous photos. Can't wait to visit NZ sometime soon.
(The earthquake was Feb. I remember because it was on my birthday. We visited Judy that day and she was contacting friends to see they were safe.)
The red stranger gets around While watching the Darts World Championship yesterday (I know), I saw the red stranger in the audience. With his friends pink and green. I really don't want to know how you manage to go to the toilet in one of those things, but Rob filled me in anyway.
Sydney Shame about the rain, it will always cloud your impression of Sydney, unfortunately, but good to meet up with friends. Like the sculptures. So relieved you're not the orange stranger, Ben. I thought p'raps you'd morphed from your stag do.
such stunning photography! You have really good shots here. One thing I love about TravelBlog is I can browse through blogs starting with the awesome photos. That's how I got here. Will be working "backwards" now to check your other blogs. Neat writing too!
Liliram
Zoo Once again wonderful photographs! Love the green python (only the photo of it!), and the cuddly koala, oh, and mustn't forget the rain dance! Take it that's an Oz custom?
Final days in Indonesia Wow. What a lovely way to end this part of your journey. It looks so beautiful, peaceful and 'untouristy'. It's wonderful to see the mountain view from your window that you told us about. Wish I was there!
Not only did we decide to spend the rest of our lives together, we thought we should embark on a somewhat over the top honeymoon - with an extended trip around South East Asia and Australasia.
