People told me that the cooles thing in Prague was this clock. It was o.k. What happens is hundreds of people wait for nearly an hour awaiting a monumentous show and it turns out to just be like a gra... [more]
Well, my first journey to Eastern Europe and I have to say it is definitely underrated. Prague, the city of gold, or the Paris of Eastern Europe, has not only have amazing food and beautiful architecture, but a funky vibe as well. We stuck around old town for most of the visit, where a fair took place. My friends and I indulged in bagels, one thing that had not reached Western Europe. They were so good! Bohemia Bagel, you are my hero! The nightlife is really interesting too. Instead of having bars on the ground floor and working your way up, [View Full Entry]

An amazing view into my heritage.
I thought I was going on this trip to find my roots, but on the way I happened to find one of the most beautiful places in the World. I knew off the bat that this trip would be a bit different while I was boarding my Alitalia flight from Rome to Sicily. I realized that I was the only foreigner/traveler on the whole plane. I started chatting with the guy next to me and he told me that everyone on the plane were pretty much business men coming home to Sicily for the weekend. So then it seemed apparent that [View Full Entry]

Well I started off in Madrid's brand new Terminal 4. It just opened a month ago and is state of the art. I took British Air which was a really good flight and the food wasn't bad. I arrived at Gatwick and met up with my friend Crissy, who I stayed with in London. On Friday we visited all the major attractions, like Westminster, Big Ben, The London Eye, St. James Park, and such. We had some really good fish and chips for lunch. After we went to this awesome Haunted House thing, which was funny and scary at the same [View Full Entry]

SORRY SORRY

Europe » Spain » District of Madrid
Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been keeping up. I'm currently in the middle of midterms. Had an oral midterm last week, just handed in my Anthropology essay, and have my midterm in Spanish tomorrow. So it has been a bit crazy here. The past weekend I went down to the Spanish cost to celebrate Carnivale in Cadiz. It was crazy! I thought that Halloween in NYC was insane, its nothing compared to the Spaniard's party. So Friday night the city is pretty dead, because people rest for the next day. We stayed in this hotel one town over that was connected [View Full Entry]

Mountains....Spain? A lot of people think Spain is a land of tropical paradise. This is not so true, especially during the winter. I went on a trip with my Antrhopology class to the Sierras de Gredos. We have been learning about a small town there that has only 50 inhabitants. Its economy is based off of cattle raising. The inhabitants were really nice and responded to all of our questions they had. There is a very grim look on the future of the town because the younger people go to the cities and don't want to stay in the mountains. Before [View Full Entry]

Look at this beautiful view. I love Sevilla!
Sevilla has out done itself! I went with my friends from school but ended up hanging with Spaniards I met! We all went out to this amazing tapas joint. You have to remember, all though Tapas is extrodinarily common in Madrid, it is from Andalusia. Sevilla's tapas are in a different league. It so interesting that here, we all ordered tons of dishes and it becomes and orgy of utensils over pools of food. In America, everyone orders there own dish. Here, when every goes out tons of dishes are ordered and you pick and chooses what you want. It's like [View Full Entry]

A match made in heaven
Hello World! Sorry I haven't been on the past few days. There was nothing really new to tell you about. I have a test in Spanish in a few hours! After that I'm meeting up with Melissa Small, my friend from Marlboro who has just arrived. That'll be a lot of fun. I can't believe that I'm going to be showing someone around a foreign city. Haha. Yeah and guess where I am off to tomorrow? My favorite city....SEVILLA!!!! I can't get enough of it. So I'm off again. This time I have to see some flamenco! Lindsay is off to [View Full Entry]

The Three Complete

 Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada
Weekend was great. We left early Friday morning for our 6ish hours to Cordoba. There we saw the Mosque. It is absolutely breathtaking. The huger building is supported by double arches inside. What I also love about mosques is that they do not include any ridiculously expensive pieces nor put statues or symbols of people in their place of worship. I feel as if mosques, especially this one, showed to what levels architecture could be executed without spending an absurd amount of money or stealing gold from the Americas. It was simply a place of worship. You came in, sat on [View Full Entry]

NO BLINDS!
NO BLINDS!
In Madrid there are no blinds inside a house, there are outdoor door-ish things that use a inner rope to move. How wierd, no?
Sorry I haven't been keeping up. I'm leaving tomorrow to Cordoba and then off to Granada. After this trip I will have seen the three former muslim capitals of Spain! It's going to be hard for these to outdo Seville. We'll see. I'm sure there will be some great pics. Have a great weekend. [View Full Entry]

The Typical Door
The Typical Door
Here, it is just as common to have a doorknob on the side of a door as it is in the center. Something you don't see everywhere in America. This is the entrance to my school.
School was fun. Lindsay and I discovered this great sandwich place. For only 2.80 Euros you can get a sandwich. I love the bocadillo de tortilla, it's a loaf of bread with tortilla espanola stuffed in the middle of it. I'm a fan. Going to start up the gym again tomorrow. Need to kill some LBS. or in this case KILOs. Travelled down to Plaza de Espana today to recharge my prepaid cell phone. Today was the last day of a great deal. You buy X amount of Euros for your phone and they double it for free! How crazy. I'm [View Full Entry]
