Hi guys, I was waiting to get all of our awesome pics from this trip before i posted, but G & G & M are slackers and haven't passed 'em on yet... keep an eye out. Not entirely sure what is wrong with people in this country but they actually get excited about the prospect of driving 700+ Kms across the country to sleep in a tent beside a lake! Grant, Giovanna, Matt, Maria and I set out on a rainy & cold 6deg Thursday morning in Cow-Town headed West for Penticton, a "small" town (of about 70,000) around 400kms [View Full Entry]

Flip a coin. If its heads I'll jump a flight to LAX and get my butt home in time for GF day... Tails says I stick around to see a little snow, skiing, and the Flames go at it... Not sure what to do. I have had a fantastic time and it seems a shame to 'cut and run' when there is still so much to see and do. But at the same time finding a job I would actually enjoy & that I'm qualified for is proving elusive. Spent an enjoyable morning with the folks at Canadian Immigration today, [View Full Entry]

Canada Cup 2006 North America » Canada » Alberta » Edmonton
Hi there, Back in Calgary after a week in Edmonton coaching team Alberta at the National U19 championships. We had a great week, played some good cricket, and finished 2nd in the standings overall. In between we trained, ate at some good and not-so-good restaurants, hung out with the Canadian Coach Andy Pick, and laughed at the boys during their Ice Bath cryptotherapy (young guys screaming like little girls is seriously funny EVERYTIME!) On the Saturday morning we were leaving, the rental car place screwed up (despite a 3 month old booking and 2 confirmation calls) and we were stuck on [View Full Entry]

Banff Summer Fun Trip North America » Canada » Alberta » Banff
Hi guys, Just a quickie today, getting ready to head off to Edmonton on Saturday for 2 days of training with the Alberta team ahead of the U18 Canada Cup which starts monday morning with a match against British Columbia, pretty excited about the opportunity. Our team looks good, a few potential match winners, just gotta put it together on the ground. Will be there for 1 week with the boys playing 4 games in 5 days. The cricket should be fun but personally I'm looking forward to introducing them to Hot/Cold baths which I have been researching as a recovery [View Full Entry]

Hi guys, Been a busy weekend, got in late Sunday night from our 4 day trip to Edmonton to work with the new national coach Andy Pick and play the 2nd leg of the men’s intercity matches. It was a very successful trip in that we swept Edmonton 3-nil for the series (Inc a wash-out) and took a massive amount away from Andy's work ethic, vision for the future, and passion for the game. Beard is gone but I'm missing it and it WILL be making a comeback over the next couple of weeks. Have added a couple of photos to [View Full Entry]

Stampede II North America » Canada » Alberta » Calgary
Goodness me, I'm tired. Fair dinkum these people just keep stepping up night after night to go out, dance, party and mostly get drunk. 10 days of stampede are now over and the city has swapped cowboy hats back for suits. But it was fun while it lasted! Hit the Roadhouse on Friday afternoon with Mukul & a couple of boys visiting from the UK (former Cavaliers players) for a Oil & Gas function. Wasn't that an eye opener! Great couple of country bands playing 'so bad they're good' hits, bar girls who leave little to the imagination giving shots out [View Full Entry]

STAMPEDE!!! North America » Canada » Alberta » Calgary
Hi guys, It's well and truely stampede time and the bad shirts, hats and facial hair have come out to play! Last night was my first venture into the stampede grounds to watch the chuck wagon races and the 'greatest outdoor show on earth'. It was pretty good fun, albeit a touch on the cheesy side for aboot the first hour. Basically what what I can gather the chuck wagons get millions of dollars in sponsorship to put company names on their little wagons who then chuck a flag in the boot, drive around a couple of barrels, and race around [View Full Entry]

Hi guys, Just back a couple of days ago from 5 days in Edmonton running the Alberta U18 Cricket Camp & Intertcity Challenge. Had beautiful weather and and the standard of the try-outs was very good. Did heaps of basic skill work, games, fitness testing. In a suprise I manage to see off all of the little buggers and run a respectable 12.9 on the beep, respect! Calgary posted a very competitive 235 on the first day, only to lose by 2 wickets to a very solid batting display by Edmonton. For game 2 we got sent in on a pitch [View Full Entry]

Hi guys, How doin, Yes it has been a while in between blogs, but with good reason, the weather has been far to good to be inside! Geez its warm aye, high 20's-low 30's all week, we are doin it tough (-; Busy couple of weeks in cow gary, big couple coming up! Stampede starts July 7th and runs for 10 days straight. It is the biggest rodeo in the world (apparently) and the cities population will swell to ridiculous numbers. People literally stay at Hotels in Edmonton to come to the Calgary stampede. Should be off to watch some Chuck [View Full Entry]

Hi guys, What a weekend. Got back from Red Deer friday arvo and packed up for a weekend in the Rocky Mountains! My travelling companions for the weekend included Matt (the messy kiwi), Grant (the punctuallty-challenged South African) and the gals Amanda & Lyn (from remote east coast Antiganesh, akin to being from Longford...) We set off in the car towards Banff, aboot 1.5hrs from Calgary enjoying equally the beautiful mountain scenery and fine selection of "crap-classics" from Grants cd collection which included greats from Hootie & Bon Jovi. We stayed at a hostel in Banff Town, and got [View Full Entry]
