YAY FOR ITALIA I'm so glad you made it to Italy! How much longer are you in Grecia? (I don't know how to say Greece in greek, only in italian.....) *le sigh. I hope you are doing beautifully! My eyes are as green as the rolling hills of tuscany because you had the opportunity to go to Italy. Sending love and blessings your way Mr. Anthony. Tomorrow is Paraskevi! (that's all I know....) ciao.
WOW Hi, Ant!
I hope all is going well with you. I think your dad is over there with you now. Zach and Luke and Jacob say hi. It looks like you are having a great time. I miss you.
Indeed, it is pretty cool to think that the SPARTANS lived in Sparta. Did you see that new movie? I hear it's crap. But that's from my Ancient Greek teacher here. And he didn't even see it. But, you know, it's just disappointing that none of the glory that was Sparta remains, yet Athens is sweet.
Just goes to show that one should always pick sides carefully.
We are SPARTA! Sparta may be a dump, but its a bad-ass dumb ya know? If you tell them that your arrows will blot out the sun, then they're like, dude we'll just fight in the shade then. Thats not just like bad ass, thats ninja. So basically the Spartans were cool, and by cool, I mean totally sweet.
Clean subways?? "the subway system here is extremely affordable, comfortable, clean and easy to use. "
I'll be its not as affordable, comfortable, clean, easy to use, and safe as the wonderfully famous new york city subway. That one is so clean and easy to use that even the rats love to use it (sometimes more even than the people!)
Nice Pictures I'm really digging the use of pictures here. They all look wonderful, though given what I've heard of greece its pretty hard not to take good pictures. Have you started classes yet? or are you still in the honeymoon part before the hard workload of classes sets in? Oh yeah, I forgot, there is no part of study abroad where the classes get hard. How is your ancient greek holding up there?
Mmmm Gyros I love Gyros, there is a very similar dish called a Döner in germany that is made by turks. I lived on the stuff. Oh, and get used to the whole not-refrigerating eggs thing. Apparently the eggs in europe are way more badass (re: samuel jackson) than in the u.s. and can just chill (or rather not chill) at room temperature.
I'm really loving your travel journal, amigo. (I know you're all inundated with Greek, but I have to keep a little Spanish in your life.) Cuidate y diviertate,
Kate
That's Rad! Anthony, this is so cool. I hope you are enjoying yourself there. Please take lots of pictures of beautiful sunsets. I'm praying for you and your safety. Have fun.
CXR I'm guessing the Greeks want to know if you have TB when you get to Greece. That way they can tell later if they gave it to you, or you had it all along.
:-)
Have fun, Enjoy every minute. and if possible. get some melatonin at a farmacia or whatever they are called there. Take one a few hours before bed, it will help you sleep better and relieve jet lag.
Did I mention that I am extremely jealous?? I'm glad you made it safely, and I am sure Athens is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to hear more about it.
It snowed here the day after you left. It was really beautiful when I woke up, and I meant to take a picture to send to you since you missed it, but then by the time I actually remembered to get my camera the snow had melted. Maybe next time.
Good luck with the jet-lag!
I'm a 20 year-old Amherst College student studying classics and religion in Athens for 5 months. I hope to make my way to Rome and Istanbul while I'm in between the two places. Having never been outside the country before, I hardly know what to expect! Like most people, I'm always interested in finding good places for sitting, thinking, hiking and eating and I plan on doing so while in Greece.... full info
