I got in at a ridiculously early time this morning, and met Leslie at the metro station. The overnight bus was quite the experience, lots of getting onto ferries (and off the bus) and back on and off again. Our driver was quite the character too... crazy driver for an oversized pink bus. Now I am in Athens at Leslie and John's place, and we are going to go to a travel agent and sort out some ferry stuff. Also, Leslie hasn't visited the Acropolis here (gasp!) so we are going to do some touristy stuff around the city, and go to the market in a little while. We are making Greek potatoes tonight too, and after trying them at the cute Lemon Tree cafe in Corfu well I guess I ought to learn to make ... read more

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, Mom please don't be worried! You do watch too much CSI! I am safe and sound and somewhat tanned. I had a full day on the train from Roma to Brindisi, met a really cool girl on the train named Lauren and let me say that the deck seats on the ferry were not that bad, just little chairs. I had the place almost to myself, but not much sleep. I arrived at the Pink Palace in Corfu at 5:30am and it's been great. I"ve met tons of cool people and we've been hanging out on the beach all day. The first day we went on a 4-wheeler safari which was SO fun, we went all day all over the island, off roading to the highest points and ... read more

So I woke up this morning with my pyjamas on backwards. Apparently last night was a lot of fun on the pub crawl. No seriously, I met a bunch of people (one guy looks just like Sean William Scott aka Stiffler) and some girls who are just about mimicking my trip so I might get to meet up with them in Greece. I will admit, I have tried very hard on this trip to make sure that I do not look like a tourist. I am discreet when I look at maps and take photos, and try to speak the language when I can. I will say that the Vatican tour was pretty damn good, and there's no other way I would have done it. The hostel advertises the Rome(ing) tours company and the girl Spring ... read more

It's early morning and I am back in Roma! Yesterday was a day of standing in line at the Uffizi gallery. Of course you can't go to Florence without seeing all that important artwork, and though I was expecting a line up, 3 hours was not part of my plan! It's a good thing I'd saved my book up until now, cuz I read about half of it in line waiting. So far the worst thing about travelling alone is all the waiting by yourself, especially when the people around you can take turns holding the place in line for pee breaks and what not. Mom, you'd never make it in line at the Uffizi, especially since they make you do a full run of the building to find the washrooms on the otherside (no toilet ... read more

Today is my second day in Firenze and it is so great. Been walking everywhere, and girls if you ever have a bad day and want to feel like your physical features are appreciated by many many people, this would be a good place to start. The first guy Tony who talked to me was alright but with really bad teeth and I keep bumping into him on my way to other places. After that almost all of them are just guys with bad teeth. Today I walked up to the top of the Duomo, and Laura I know now what you meant by these before! This one is huge, sneaking up on you, and the top is 463 steps up, which I climbed, and took lots of photos from the top. The markets are cool ... read more

I left London yesterday after some very touristy very busy days. I got to see all the things I wanted, the Big Ben and parliment buildings, the Tate Modern art gallery, Shakespeares Globe theatre, the London Eye, and most exciting of all the Victoria and Albert museum. They had everything at that last one, beautiful buildings, statues, a David replica, wrought iron fencing, fancy keys, Tippos Tiger (wooden lifesized tiger that is sinking its teeth into a wooden man, with a crank that plays music and sounds like knawing and chewing), and haute couture dresses. The underground, or the tube, was still my favorite part of London. MIND THE GAP! Third favorite was seeing Chicago in the West End, though it was strange hearing the Brit accents coming through. And how Mary Sunshine was a man. ... read more

I made it! one long long flight it was though in the last row near the crying baby. I've spent most of my time here riding the tube (london underground) which was, from the airport, disapointingly above ground. Met up with Dan at the hostel and since then we've been all over the place, zipping around on the tube. We really haven't waited more than 60 seconds to get on, it's quite impressive. Yesterday we went to Hyde Park, which reminds me a great deal of Central Park in NYC (but that's because the New Yorkers based it on this park). Saw Buckingham Palace too, with these huge highly elaborate gates everywhere, walked around the whole thing (on the outside). I even saw an old lady coming out of one of the doors near a guard ... read more

This is my brand new Travelblog, very happy to have begun. The countdown is on, only 13 more days until I leave Canada's London for England's London! Currently I am still in school mode since exams are next week, so planning my trip will now take up all of my study break time. I will leave Toronto to fly into London April 26th, and then return May 28th. In that time I hope to hit up France, Italy, and Greece before returning to London. Since the internet is everywhere, I am going to try and keep up with these postings as I go. Please comment so I know you're reading along and I promise to keep it interesting!... read more
