Amazing adventure!! Sara you truly are a wonderful story teller, with exciting words and defined descriptions. Your trip sounds life changing and we are so happy you had the chance to travel and learn about this beautiful place. I could hear your smile through your story telling and nothing makes me feel more proud of you than knowing you found what you love. We are so happy knowing you're home, safe and sound, but look forward to your next adventure and wait to hear every about every sighting, smell, and touch. Love you sweetie!!
it sounds like ur soft survival observation earlier has come to mean a whole different thing in this entry! wow camping on that trail sounds intense. the picture of horses are beautiful? are they horses? soraypampa sounds like an experience, and it also sounds like u had a great experience there? that passage about the night sky was stunning. i am delighted a bag spaghetti and hope that u have many more experiences with babble spanish and take ur child to work day. good luck on all your future hikes! hoping u r staying somewhere warm(er?) now and doing well.
i really love dogs. the architecture is all so beautiful form ur photos wow! hope that u r feeling better from altitude though, that's so incredibly high! i'm loling at the irony of a hostel named loki being an infamous party hostel, god of mischief and all. land of butter and rice sounds great according to ur photo. my fave line: / tourists support the city, the city lives for itself. / but also that mention of dogs.
people are so lovely. it's so great that ur able to find your way where you need and that everyone is amazing! this sounds like such a great adventure and all ur photos r really great, i think, an awesome mix of tourist, artist, student (that children's book museum!) that's just very u? /They are both excited we are from California-- “I have a sister in New Jersey!” “I have a brother in San Francisco!”--and the man does an impression of the Terminator in a thick Peruvian accent./ this is my favorite part of your blog entry. :) it's great!

/To distract myself from the cocktail of excitement, dread, and moroseness that my heart’s bartender was pouring down my throat/ what a beautiful line? ur writing is, honestly, just as much of an experience as reading about ur experiences. love the way u describe the landmarks that u pass and that bitter sweet feeling of leaving home but going someone new. also, huge kudos on packing so light and being such an experienced traveller. :') wishing u good health at whatever stage of ur journey ur at rn
what the heck ur writing is so beautiful and u do a wonderful job of capturing a sense of wonder and curiosity in in this entry! and yeah...everyone usually figures out your american a couple of mins into any conversation in any country really? lol
I just wanted to say that I LOVED the story of you going to REI. You see, what these people don't realize about going out into the unknown is that it can't be a spiritual journey with all that fancy camping gear. It is very easy for people to get lost in the frenzy of shopping for their trips that they end up ruining the beauty of the act itself. Camping is supposed to be about driving out into nature and then getting lost so that you can appreciate what you have back in the REAL world. Things like coats and toilet paper and mushrooms that come out of a restaurant kitchen sauteed and not poisonous. - Materialism has been looked down on in this day and age like so many other "-ism"s (like Catholicism with the rise of the KKK, Muslimism with increasing extremism in the Middle East, and there's another one right there! Extremism), but I think, what is the point of getting a GOOD and STEADY job if you're not going to spend all the money you earn on THINGS? That's why I enjoy what you're doing so much; because it is so similar to a trek into the unknown that I took once where I left everything behind and almost died on a quest to find inner peace and Shangrowla.

Sara, no one else can make me laugh and cry outloud as you can. I am glad I did not know all these details as you climbed the trail. Panic is never a good virtue.
Love your blogs! Hello Sara! What an amazing adventure you're in! Reading your blogs paints such interesting pictures in my mind, and in some instances wishing I was experiencing the wonders you describe. You are missed! Please, please be well. I love you!
love the pics Hi Sara, each picture is worth a thousand words; they were great. Hope your first week in school goes well. We are in prayer for you. Love you dearly.
Sorry to hear about the party scene at your hotel. Hopefully you'll get accustomed to the noise and won't even realize it's there….fingers crossed. The architecture of the church in the plaza is gorgeous!! Have you been inside?
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers and wishing you a wonderful adventure with many beautiful memories to make.
We love and miss you Sara!

Excited and Excited!! Your blog almost left me in tears as I was reading how the mother and daughter kindly walked with you and sent you off with hugs and kisses. What a truly friendly city!! I love the pictures you have posted along with the descriptions, Vibrant colors and picture captured just right! I'm so happy to see that you are finding your way (maybe a little longer than expected) around town and that communication is not a problem.
I can't wait to read/see your next posting. Thank you for including me in on this....it's like I was in Peru myself!
Stay safe out there Sara. I know you are a sweet soul, and would go out of the way for anyone, but please keep an eye out and know your surroundings.
I love you my niece.
I love you sweetie
Mi querida sobrina It is such a relief to know that you are safe in Santiago. What an amazing adventure you will have over the next few months! And it is incredible to be able to keep up with your travels through this blog. Your photos are wonderful!! Ron, Ryan and I were in Canada last week, soaking up the breathtaking scenery in Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. It was not easy to return to the desert heat, but hopefully that will be over fairly soon. Be safe, mi querida sobrina!!
Adios Cali, Buenos dias Chile! Sara, thanks so much for starting this blog! It's awesome! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures and seeing pictures. ANd yes, you'll definitely need to come back and teach us how to do the bachata. I tried learning that myself and I love the rhythm but still need more hip work. Stay safe my sweet niece. Love you!
I love reading your words but feeling you're a million miles away. Please keep on writing while I keep on praying. I hate to say "I told you so" but I was right about the pants; a third pair would have added a mere 2.2 kilos. I love you and take care of my 30 year old thermals.
Bon Voyage I love your travel blog already before you have left! I don't know what bachata is, but I can picture you dancing it in the rain down there, even on top on Machu Picchu. God bless every day of your adventure. I'm sure the Chileans will be glad to have you stay with them. And I look forward to see you dance the bachata in the rain here when you return. El Nino will be waiting for you!

I'm so glad I did not know most of the details until now. Angels were with all of you.
