I am a fun loving and adventurous spirit. I may be young but I have BIG plans and travel is one of them! I'm currently living and working in Vigo, Spain, though I am from the US and UK (mixed background)!

After finishing the sangria challenge, people went out to a bar and clubs while we (Jen,Magali and I) took a little nap for about an hour before going to catch our 6 AM flight back to Porto. After a gorgeous flight, that coincided with dawn over the ocean, we arrived back in northern Portugal once more. We then scoured the city for breakfast, and lucked out by finding a little place serving a full English breakfast. When I say I have never eaten more meat in one sitting, I don't not exaggerate. He must have brought me a pound of bacon and an entire pig in the form of sausage! After I practically had to be rolled out of the restaurant we went to an art museum in the center of town. But along the way ... read more

November 1&2: It's amazing the pretties things that you're all consumed with; like this time last year all my worries were about my boyfriend, my physics grade, if my semi formal dance dress looked good and if people liked me...traveling has put so much viewpoint in my life. I now understand that a misses turn on a map or a eating too many French fries (the answers is always inevitable "yes") is not (by any means) the end of the world, it's simply an addition to my life, to my journey. And right now, my journey through life is and has been exceptional. I mean, I'm currently sitting on a bus going through the Algarve in southern Portugal, having just visited the town of Taviera, where there was a castle and gorgeous bridges. This Morning I ... read more

On the road again...in the air again...off to Portugal again...!!! I am currently sitting on a flight to Faro, in southern Portugal, with my new friends: Jen from Canada and Magali from Belgium, both au pairs in Vigo with me. And along with it being a new city in a new country, it also happens to be: HALLOWEEN!!!! Thus, I have a pair of white sheer fairy wings tucked into the overheard compartment. These last few weeks have been nice, filled with fun times with the kids, busy and confusing school days, where I trudge to and from the university with my new friend--Leo, from Georgia--and attend a class filled with German students who have all studied Spanish at least three years longer than I have; bit all this I so with a big grin because ... read more

Today began with munchkins and ended with How I Met Your Mother, so I’d say that’s a pretty successful day! I got up again to the sound of some tacky alarm and the sound of children’s groans, I got dressed and then got breakfast ready before helping Susi get the kids up and ready. After a grueling time with Lucia, who was in a BAD mood, I walked them to school and began one of my favorite parts of the day—walking back from dropping them off from school, because I know that the possibilities of my day are ENDLESS. Today I wasn’t too tired to I talked to Susi in Spanish some (GO ME!) and then I dozed and read in bed. I then went to meet some girls for lunch and fro-yo (again: ... read more

Ahhhh, school. It's a little strange to be In School again after more than five months out...but what I just realize is how much I ADORE school. I'm trying to hard to pick up Spanish, to both understand and speak the wonderfully useful language. Which means Tuesdays and Thursdays my life revolves around my lessons at the universidad de vigo. Every other day of the week is simply filled with flash cards! Today was no exception, it began earlier than I would have liked--with taking the babies to school before I napped before taking the bus up the many hills to the university. Once there I ran some errands and then headed to class, where I spent two hours being slightly confused but happy to be learning (past tense today; something I need a lot of ... read more

A day back and I am happy and content. Getting back at night was VERY interesting! It comprised me waiting an hour for a bus that never came to find out that it doesn't run on Sundays (boooooo!), so I walked home from the bus station; and let's just put it this way---it's usually a 45-60 minute bus journey...so that was super fun...at 11pm...when I was sure I was going to be mugged...again...but I made it, safe and sound! Thus, I lived to tell the tale. Once home, susi and I chatted for a while before going to bed. She to me that I didn't need to work in the morning---because she's an angel. So this morning I had a nice lie in. After which, aka at 11am, I got up and hot the gym. There ... read more

The last day arrived much to fast! Jen and I got up early on Sunday and headed into town via the metro/tram system. Once in town we went to Burmester port company. A wine cellar built into a cave by he river. There we went on a tour and tried a white port--for before dinner, and a red port---a ruby for afterwards. Then we took another bus tour of the city (to really get out money's worth!!) before I dropped Jen off at the bus station and headed back to Goncalo's house to meet him. After grabbing a bite to eat, we headed to a beach near the city and lounged in the sun with Stephan, before Goncalo took me to the bus station so I could go home (yes--HOME) to vigo.... read more

Hellloooo Porto! Today was day two in this beautiful ocean city! We got up late, tired after the party, and talked some with Goncalo's parents. Then Jen and I headed to the metro onto town. We then spent the day looking at several churches and buildings---Sao Francisco cathedral, santo bento train station, the clergy church and tower, Se cathedral among other beau fitful buildings. After seeing the city we met up with goncalo, who took us to a pastry shop, where I had a rice cake (yummy)! We then headed home to get ready for dinner at 10pm. We went to this amazing restaurant with his friend, Stephan. It was right on the wharf, and we had dish after dish of AMAZING seafood---it was incredible! After the huge meal, we went for some hot chocolate downtown ... read more

Well, it's been a while scinceI last updates this lovely blog. The reason being an insanely busy week!! My week was filled with my new Spanish classes---which at first had me screaming but now are my new challenge! The kids (of course), gym time, coffee with the other au pairs and lots of Skype calls from my best friends at home. That--the calls--are amazing, to know they're taking their time and spending it on the phone to me...it's amazing and makes me feel so loved. Feeling a bit exhausted and a little short tempered, I left the kids on Friday morning for a little trip to...(drum roll please) PORTO, PORTUGAL!!!!!! Jen and I caught the 11:30 bus from Vigo to Porto on Friday morning. Once there we ate a delicious lunch. And then Went on a ... read more

Ah, another week begins! So this was my first, well second BIG test in which I was to face the ultimate challenge: kids in the morning! AHHHH! So I rose early, got dressed, set the table and then dared to do the impossible: GET THEM UP, DRESSED, FED AND ON TIME TO SCHOOL!!! And I tell you what it happened; I bribed Marta with sweets, was stern with George, coaxed Lucia out of bed and got Elena up last! Then they all were fed, cleaned and off to school. I thought I had a victory when “it” happened: Elena decided to get cry-ey…meaning we were half way there when she needed the toilet, which she then needed to cry about for the remainder of the walk; then she didn’t want to go to school so she ... read more
