why chinese people like trip in group That because Chinese people don't know how to travel!! You see, most of them neveral travel in their whole life. Several years ago, they were poor . Meanwhile, now trip in group is cheaper!
In fact, chinese people are very kind, friendly! why they can't smile to you oftern? The main reason is that they are shy!!Sometimes, i think because they used to work hard, fight for living! Just forget enjoying their lives.
now more and more chinese are enjoying their lives, they want to go outside to watch the world.
Haven't heard from you since the 16th...... Are you safe and well? Didn't get carried off by a Tsunami did you? Just got back from 10 Days in TN....it was lovely!!!!! When do you return? Carl and I are coming back to TN for a few days to pick up our " yet to be completed" bed. Would like a chance to see you.
God bless your journey home. Hugs
Japanese torture It's hard to imagine how a small country like Japan could overtake such a huge country as China. Also was wondering what the two countries relationship is now but I'll wait till my history professor Sandy gets home to explain. My first thought re your 2 day voyage to Japan was why not fly but then I remembered - it has to be Tommy - can't resist the ship.
awesome views Thanks for taking your time to share these beautiful pictures and history blogs with us. With all my travels - never made it to China - have to depend on you - 20 hour train ride - not for me - admire your stamina.
Educational Blog Awesome and educational blog. If I were a teacher in the public educational system, I would love to get my hands on the picture slides and blogs and present to students.
wow, such adventures! I'm sorry to say I didn't keep up with the blog...thought you wouldn't even leave the US before now, mid March. Shame on me. What wonderful blogs and pictures. I was in Japan for 2 weeks in early january and loved it. Getting around Kanagawa province was so easy by train. Hope you have a wonderful time there.
I'll be in Tennessee March 26-April 1, visiting a friend near Memphis, then in Gatlinburg for an Arrowmont Arts and Crafts weekend. Hope to hear from you sometime.

your blogs Thanks for your blogs - I'm loving them - though circumstances here put me behind in keeping up (I'm going to e-mail you) and also going to make copy for Donna Abrams to log on - like me she is not a swiftee with computers but she always ask me about your travels - I think you had told her how to get there but like me, if you had not wrote down directions, I would have never made it. Love you, if the world were full of Tom and Sandy's what a wonderful world it would be. Vivian.

Awesome water!!!!! Tennessee and Michigan have beautiful fresh waterways......but what I see pictured here far surpasses anything I have seen stateside. Again, this is some place Carl and I could enjoy spending time.
Incredible !! Just peeked at your travel blog entry - INCREDIBLE !!! The children and I are praying for safe passage ... and that you keep the entries and photos coming. LOVE THEM !!
Thanks for sharing Thanks for sharing this adventure online, it was very touching. We have gotten my wife's family in Hue addicted to Angry Birds :D So when the chicken came out with the head, did you say, "it's smiling" - Christmas Story. Enjoy the rest of your time in Asia (if still there) and thanks again for posting. Hen gap lai. - NE Indiana
Angry Birds -- thanks! Yes, the Angry Birds were a hit. We're planning to send a Gameboy with learning software for young Tom's birthday in July. I hope it helps him improve his skills and knowledge.
New Pet Not only could Miss Ellie (short of course for elephant) pull Kudzo from the trees, she could pull out all the dead and diseased trees on the mountain. she could push all winter visitors up the mountains when the ice and snow got a little too much and she could shoot water from her trunk at all the pesky squirrels. shw would, of course, have to share some space in the outdoor pen with Tulip, but all in all, I think she would be adorable. Certainly would keep Coronna in line.
Love the River Boy, that river trip is definitely a Carl and me thing!! We could do that for the full 3 month trip. And I love the boat....THAT is definitely me. Are there snakes and bugs? Looks like the smaller upper and lower cabin compartments on on end might be the staterooms. How nice of Tom to arrange a private trip for the two of you. and you still get the full crew? does your travel guides remain with you the entire trip?
Mekong Delta Yes, Tom's a pretty good guy. And yes, we had a crew of five for the two of us. We've hired different guides when we needed to -- and we've learned so much from them!
Tom and I are retired and live in the mountains of east Tennessee. This spring (2012), we're returning to Vietnam and China and (new to Sandy) traveling in Japan. Tulip the Dog is staying/sleeping with friends in middle Tennessee. ... full info
