Carmona: Some 50km from Seville, the small town of Carmona stands on the highest point of a flat plaine. The day we visited it, the visibility was very good we could see 50 miles in the distance. The Moorish fortress is even higher and should offer a greater view of the countryside. The town has two entrance known as Cordoba and Seville gates. We parked the van by Cordoba gate and went on exploring the narrow streets of this delightful Moorish town. It’s my dream little town, if I was born here, I would never want to live nowhere else. Seville: Again this city was ruled by the Moors from 712 till 1248. Mudejar masterpieces abound such as the Torre del Oro, the minaret tower known as La Giralda, The Palacio Los Reales Alcazares etc… It’s ... read more

Cordoba: We visited the great mosque (in Spanish called Mezquita). it was built in 712AD ( yes 712AD). It’s the biggest mosque in the world since and still is. The brochure says it has 1000 colossal pillars and I would have believed if it says 10000. Unfortunately the Christians Catholics have destroyed the original artworks to transform it into a Cathedral. I’m not sure they succeeded. The Jewish quarter has been well preserved offering a lot of restaurants and small hotels. We enjoyed a good afternoon going up and down the narrow streets of the Kasbah. We stopped at what we mistakenly thought to be a café, but it was a bar specialising in a sort of special wine. We moved instead to chocolatier and enjoyed a nice gateau.... read more

Granada: 200km. Not a long drive and an easy and enjoyable one. The plan is to spend 2 days et 3 nights in Grenada. We arrived in the afternoon so we stayed in the van. As usual Linda tackled some washing/drying etc.. I spent the afternoon setting up Sat TV, repairing bikes and reorganising the garage. The next morning we took the bus to visit Alhambra palace built by the moors some 1100 years ago when 2/3 of Spain was under Islamic rules. The palace left me speechless; Considering when it was built, I have never seen anything like it. It should be classed as a wonder of the world. We spent a good 4 hours visiting the inside and the gardens before catching the bus to town. The view from the top of the towers ... read more

Friday 14th Nov Isla Plana - Camping Los Delfines MAZARRon Mazarron is definitely a little corner from heaven on earth. If ever there is a place I would like to retire to, it would be it. Linda shares my feeling on this little gem.. It has 6 perfect half moon bays with clean sandy beach, The centre of town oozes with style, the marinas is more of a small port where most boats are of the fishing/sailing boat; none of the mega-millions pounds super-boats here and all the better for it! As usual we took the bikes for a ride from Camping Los Delfines situated some 4miles from Mazarron in Isla Plana, This is another place I promised myself to comeback to for a longer holiday.. Almeria: We reach Almeria from high above on the mountains. ... read more

Cambrils-Salou Cambrils is a small little town with the beach as the main attraction. The campsite is just a little walk away from the centre of town . Got the bikes out and cycle there for the afternoon. We longed the beach up and down, the weather is just nice around 22. It’s just haven. The next day we cycled to a bigger town called Salou situated some 7 miles away on the coast. We had lunch at a McDo in the hope that they’ll have WiFi . But unfortunately they didn’t have any. Anyway the wifi was just an excuse; Linda wanted a bigMac! We ride back was up against the wind and more strenuous. We are so comfortable in this town that we decided that even though there isn’t much to see or do, ... read more
