I was born and raise in Chicago, IL, also known as the windy city. I am a Southsider, fan of the Sox, and deep dished pizza lover. Living in such a vibrant city for my whole life, I love to travel and explore other new places. I have been to 20 states in the US, Canada, China, Hong Kong, France, Monaco, Italy, and Switzerland. Traveling is a great way to learn history, and I believe that it is important to study World History to have a better understanding of the world around us and where we live. I have been to three of the seven continents, so one of my lifetime goals is to travel to six continents (except Antarctica).

If you could change one thing that happened this year, what would it be?If I could change one thing that happened this year, I would try my absolute hardest in Calculus 2. TOP TEN at UICCP 1) Friends Not only seniors, I have friends from all four grade levels. They have supported me through different stages of my high school career and shaped me as who I am today. Daniela Don Over the four years, I have seen Daniela working hard for her academics and never has she given up. She does what is necessary in order for her to maintain her GPA. She has the spirit of a true firecat! Keep up the great work! Isabel Macias Despite the influences of other firecats who are bad examples, Isabel has followed her own beliefs and values which shapes the person she is today. Once she is determined to work for a goal, Isabel can accomplish many great things. She demonstrates the character of a firecat like scholarship, honor, and discipline. ... read more

I am only one in 7 billion people living on this planet. It is hard to describe the magnificence of our mighty world. As a child, I was fascinated by the pictures on the cover of National Geographic: the astonishing images of indigenous tribes in Brazil and nomads in Mongolia inspired me to travel around the world! Because of these inspiring images that sparked my curiosity, I have been motivated to study abroad. During the summer of 2011 at a French language camp, I learned Irish slangs from the rugby boys, meditation from my Lebanese roommate, and pizza making from my Italian friends. The lifelong friendships I made were incredibly rewarding because these interactions with others strengthened my knowledge about different people and cultures. Even though there was a language barrier, I still embraced and adapted ... read more

President Lincoln wrote the Emanicipation Proclamation to end slavery and the 13th Amendment changed the course of slavery in the US.
