Arrived: Ben Tre by private van

You can rent private vans to take you to practically anywhere. Ben Tre is about an hour away by bus and Vung Tau is about 2 hours. We had my uncle and cousin take us here to see a different side of Vietnam lifestyle away from the city life. Here is where you can see how the locals make the signature and famous coconut candy by hand. Ben Tre offers variety of tours by boat and land so you can customize your trip. Most are half day tours. Make sure you book a ride down the Mekong river as well. A definite must.

Tips
If you want to go to Vung Tau, the suggestion is to leave early morning and return end of day. You can stay overnight but most would prefer to do a day trip.
